Richard E. Grant Says Mahershala Ali Will Win the Oscar

Richard E. Grant is nominated for his first Oscar, but he doesn’t expect to win the award.

The 61-year-old actor is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for his work in the movie Can You Ever Forgive Me?

Richard thinks the award will go to Green Book‘s Mahershala Ali.

“You shoot a movie for 26 days and then you’re on a promotional awards trail, as they call it, for five months, and you don’t earn any money doing that. But for me it’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing,” Richard told the Associated Press about the awards trail. “Yet come February 24 when Mahershala wins, it will be gone, cheers, tumbleweed.”

The other nominees in the category are BlacKkKlansman‘s Adam Driver, A Star Is Born‘s Sam Elliott, and Vice‘s Sam Rockwell.
