Stephen Amell Tries to Make Amends with Pro Wrestler Dave Bautista After Wrestlemania Comments

Stephen Amell is trying to defend himself after getting into a spat with pro wrestler Dave Bautista.

After Monday Night RAW last night (March 11) when it was confirmed that the 50-year-old wrestler would be taking on Triple H in the upcoming Wrestmania 35, the 37-year-old Arrow star jokingly reacted to the news on Twitter – and was hit with some serious backlash.

“Just landed and found out about @DaveBautista v @TripleH — Really pumped for the match but also don’t want to see a celebrity angle detract from an awesome wrestling card. 😶,” Stephen tweeted.

The “celebrity angle” Stephen is referring to Dave quitting and returning to the WWE in-between filming cameos in movies like Guardians of the Galaxy, The Avengers: Infinity War, and Dune.

However, Stephen was only poking fun because he once wrestled in a celebrity wrestling match back in September.

Dave, on the other hand, didn’t find it funny and tweeted back: “Considering that celebrity could actually f–k someone up, and that celebrity is a former 6x heavyweight champ, and that celebrity is there because he loves it, maybe it just adds to the card. Maybe.”

Stephen then tried to defend his comments saying he was only joking.

“Hey Dave — I went out of my way to introduce myself to you in Atlanta at a convention so I could tell you what a big fan of yours I am. You couldn’t have been more pleasant. My tweet was meant to poke fun at me. It clearly wasn’t funny. Please don’t kill me,” Stephen responded.

Wrestlemania 35 takes place April 7.
