Johnny Depp Steps Out for 'Waiting for the Barbarians' Venice Film Festival Photo Call!

Johnny Depp is dapper in a blue suit while attending the photo call for his upcoming film Waiting for the Barbarians held during the 2019 Venice Film Festival on Friday (September 6) in Venice, Italy.

The 56-year-old actor was joined at the event by his co-stars Mark Rylance and Gana Bayarsaikhan, as well as the film’s director Ciro Guerra.

In Waiting for the Barbarians, Johnny Depp plays the ruthless Colonel Joll, a torturer who is in charge of the security situation on the border and who clashes with a morally upright magistrate.

“When Ciro came up with that shape… They were threatening; they were menacing somehow,” Johnny expressed about the metal shoes he wears for his character (via Variety). “He wore them to make the magistrate as uncomfortable as possible.”

The evening before, Johnny joined his Waiting for the Barbarians team at their special honor dinner during the 2019 Venice Film Festival at Centurion Palace.
