'1917' Is Making Way More Than Expected at the Box Office!

After three weeks at number one at the domestic box office, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be dethroned this weekend by the new war drama 1917.

The Golden Globe-winning movie is on track to gross $37.2 million for its wide opening weekend, according to Deadline.

This number is way more than box office experts originally expected. Before the Golden Globes, the movie was tracking to do $20 million for its wide opening and that was bumped up to $25 million on the Monday after the awards show.

The movie, starring George Mackay and Dean-Charles Chapman, earned an A- CinemaScore, so it definitely will have some great word of mouth for the next couple months.

Sam Mendes won the Best Director award at the Golden Globes and the movie won Best Picture.
