Amandla Stenberg To Star & Co-Write A New Song For 'Dear Evan Hansen' Movie

Amandla Stenberg has joined the Dear Evan Hansen film adaption.

According to The Wrap, the -year-old actor is set to play the role of Alana with an expanded presence, and will also co-write a new song for the movie with duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

Amandla‘s role as Alana will have a cheery facade and a social-media-savvy, but it masks her deeper loneliness and isolation.

If you don’t know, Dear Evan Hansen is a story of a high school senior who has severe social anxiety and has trouble connecting with others and making friends.

After the suicide of a classmate, Evan gets caught in a lie that brings him closer to his classmate’s family.

The role was portrayed by Ben Platt, Noah Galvin, and Jordan Fisher in the stage version.
