24kGoldn is the artist behind the number one song “Mood” and he opened up about his fashion choices in a brand-new podcast interview.

The 20-year-old rapper was interviewed for the Spout podcast and you can listen to the full interview below.

24kGoldn, whose real name is Golden Landis Von Jones, really showed his age when Jennifer Lopez‘s iconic Versace dress from the 2000 Grammys was brought up in conversation. He wasn’t even alive when that moment happened!

For those that don’t know, Google Images was created after so many people went on Google to search for photos of JLo in that dress.

On his favorite high fashion designer
“Oh, this is setting myself up for that brand deal in a couple of years. Let me think about that real quick. Virgil, if you’re still at Louis, by the time you see this, let’s do it. Let’s do it. I’m putting it out there Louis Vuitton. Let’s go!”

“I would say for fashion in general, I’m not a really big brand guy. I just like, it’s all about the style to me, you know, not not, who made it.”

On his feelings about hypebeast culture:
“I’m not a big fan of it, you know, when I got into sneakers it was probably like 2012, 2013, 2014, so that’s when it was still fresh. And I feel like there was like a couple waves and I was the first wave of that new generation to be put on the Supreme and Bape and Jordans and other stuff. I like that, that you know, something that I enjoy is now available to the masses and everyone knows what Supreme and Bape is now but that can be a bad thing too when people they just chased the brand and they’re not paying attention to any of the history or the culture behind it you know, so that’s the part that I don’t really like. I’m not trying to be a gatekeeper. If you want to get jiggy, we can all get jiggy together.”

On the fashion trend he can’t stand:
“Um, I don’t like the I don’t like the big like, monogram every game like, alright, we’re gonna throw all this Louis Vuitton stuff. All these Gucci stuff, like the prints and stuff everywhere. You know, I think it’s good at certain times and on certain items, but just to throw it on everything is like putting brand in front of style in front of design. And that’s not me. I don’t like that.”

On the fashion trend he wants to come back:
“Alright, so I’ve taken it upon myself to be the ambassador of the flair pants coalition. I’m trying to bring back the bell bottoms. Every day, going on some flair pants, throwing some bell bottoms on, and I’m seeing it start to pick up. I’m not gonna lie. I’ve seen other rappers, you know, wearing the same pants that I wear after them. And I’m not bad at it. You know, I’m just glad that I can inspire the world.”

On the one person’s closet he would raid:
“ASAP Rocky? Like I just feel like he set the standard for flyness in this new generation of fashion. And he’s like a real fashion nerd. So I know he got some like archive pieces up in there. I might have to grab a couple things and incorporate that into my own closet.”
