'Godzilla Vs. Kong' Becomes Global Top-Grossing Movie of the Pandemic

Godzilla vs. Kong continues to dominate.

The mega-monster movie stayed strong at No. 1 at the box office over the past weekend, making it the top-grossing Hollywood movie of the pandemic globally, THR reported Sunday (April 18).

The movie pushed past the $390 million mark globally, beating out Tenet‘s global earnings of $365 million last year.

It also brought in $7.7 million in the United States, reaching $80.5 million in its third week domestically. Overseas, it brought in $12.2 million for a total of $309.7 million and $390.2 million worldwide.

Godzilla vs. Kong beat out Christopher Nolan’s Tenet, which earned $58.4 million, and was the previous highest-grossing film of the pandemic era.

The new movie features a great cast consisting of some fan favorite actors and some rising stars who you might not be familiar with just yet. Only a few cast members from the previous Godzilla and King Kong movies have returned for this sequel, including Millie Bobby Brown and Kyle Chandler as father-daughter duo Madison and Mark Russell.
