Taylor Swift Has Become The First Woman Ever To Win This Iconic Award

Taylor Swift is set to be honored at this year’s BRIT Awards.

Variety reports that the 31-year-old musician will be the recipient of the iconic Global Icon Award, in recognition of her impact on the world’s music industry and career achievements.

The award is the ceremony’s highest honor and Taylor has become the first woman ever to win it. She joins previous winners such as Elton John, Robbie Williams and David Bowie.

The BRITS wrote of Taylor and her career, saying that the award is because of “[her] immense impact on music across the world and incredible repertoire and achievements to date. Taylor’s career is unparalleled and her music and influence has resonated with millions of people all over the world. She’s used her platform to highlight many issues globally and recently has been applauded for her work promoting acceptance of the LGBTQ community.”

The 2021 BRIT Awards are being held on Tuesday, May 11 from London’s O2 arena.

The ceremony is the first major U.K. indoor music event to host a live audience since large gatherings were prohibited and will gift 2,500 tickets to frontline workers and a guest.

Just last month, Taylor re-entered the charts with her new recordings from Fearless. Check it out!
