Dick Van Dyke, Garth Brooks, Debbie Allen & More Honored at Kennedy Center Honors 2021

Dick Van Dyke leans on his cane while arriving at the 2021 Kennedy Center Honors ceremony held at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., on Friday (May 21).

The 95-year-old legendary actor was honored at the ceremony, alongside Debbie Allen, Garth Brooks, Joan Baez and violinist Midori, for their contributions to the arts.

“Many years ago, I was the host of a similar event held, as I recall, in private with the Kennedy family,” Dick shared in a previous statement about the honor. “I saw the care with which the recipient was chosen from an impressive list of nominees. Since the creation of the Kennedy Center Honors, just over 200 have been honored with equal care. Being included in that small, illustrious group, is the thrill of my life.”

In addition to the honorees, Norm Nixon, Debbie‘s husband; Jasmine Jankelow-Harris, Joan’s granddaughter; Trisha Yearwood, Garth‘s wife; Charles Danziger, Midori‘s business partner; and Arlene Silver, Dick‘s wife were also in attendance with Kennedy Center Chairman David Rubenstein and its president, Deborah Rutter.

The 2021 Kennedy Center Honors, hosted by Gloria Estefan, will air on June 6 on CBS.

The event will also be available to stream on demand on the CBS app and Paramount+.
