Emma Stone Didn't Carry Cruella's Signature Cigarette Holder In 'Cruella' & This Is The Reason Why

There was one thing that made it difficult to transform completely into Cruella for Emma Stone.

The 32-year-old actress opened up in a new interview and revealed that the absence of one certain prop that’s featured heavily in the original animated 101 Dalmatians movie made it trying to transform into the iconic villain – Cruella’s cigarette holder.

“That is not allowed in 2021,” Emma shared with the New York Times.

Disney actually started banning smoking in all of its films around 2007, and extended the ban to all Lucasfilm, Marvel, and Pixar offerings in 2015.

“We are not allowed to smoke onscreen in a Disney film,” Emma added. “It was difficult to not have that cigarette holder…I was so excited to have that green plume of smoke in there, but it was not possible. I don’t want to promote smoking, but I’m also not trying to promote skinning puppies.”

If you haven’t seen it, Cruella has a post-credits scene that might need some explaining…
