James Corden Reveals What Really Happened When Stevie Wonder Called to Serenade His Wife During Carpool Karaoke

James Corden is looking back at a hilarious moment he shared with Stevie Wonder!

The 42-year-old comedian and Late Late Show host made a virtual appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday (June 1) and recalled enlisting Stevie‘s help for a romantic moment with his wife Julia while filming his Carpool Karaoke segment with him a few years ago.

James said that while what audiences saw on TV was a very moving moment between Stevie and his wife, in reality things weren’t as romantic.

“What I didn’t know when I got home is my wife was actually in a bathroom stall when the phone rang,” James laughed.

“I had this gorgeous image of her being completely overwhelmed with emotion but she was literally in a toilet at a restaurant,” he continued.

The host also gave an update as to when fans can expect Carpool Karaoke to return.

James said while he wasn’t exactly sure when the segment would be safe to film again, he and his team were “hopeful for the end of summer or autumn time.”
