Venus Williams Weighs In On Media Pressure Amid Naomi Osaka Withdrawing From French Open

Venus Williams is opening up about her thoughts about Naomi Osaka withdrawing from the 2021 French Open.

The 40-year-old seven time Grand Slam winner spoke with press following her own match and addressed the situation with an epic answer about how media does affect athlete’s mindset.

“It’s definitely not easy to do press I think for any person,” she first said about the pressure that comes with dealing with the media in her career.

Venus then added, that how she personally dealt with it “was that I know every single person asking me a question can’t play as well as I can and never will.”

“No matter what you say or what you write, you’ll never light a candle to me.”

Earlier in the day, Venus‘ younger sister, Serena Williams, also spoke out in support of Naomi stepping away from the competition.
