Sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson Might Miss 100m Event at Olympics After Reportedly Failing Drug Test

Fans fell in love with sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson following her performance at the U.S. Olympic Trials last month, but her Olympic dreams are now in jeopardy.

The 21-year-old American athlete won the 100m race at the trials with a time of 10.86 seconds.

Sha’Carri also holds the record for the fastest time at the 100m event after getting a 10.72 seconds score earlier this year. She was expected to be competing for the gold medal at the Olympics this summer.

Now, it is being reported that Sha’Carri tested positive for marijuana, which are not considered steroids, and she is facing a 30-day suspension. The suspension means she would miss out on the 100m event, though she might still be able to compete in the 4×100-meter relay.

Hours before the news broke, Sha’Carri took to Twitter and wrote, “I am human.”
