Meet 'The Republic of Sarah' Actor Ian Duff with These 10 Fun Facts (Exclusive)

We just caught up with rising star Ian Duff, who is one of the stars of The CW’s new series The Republic of Sarah!

The actor plays the role of Grover Sims on the new series, which revolves around a rebellious high school teacher who utilizes an obscure loophole to protect her community.

Ian also had a featured role in the Oscar-winning movie Judas and the Black Messiah and he previously had a recurring arc on the NBC series New Amsterdam.

  1. I am from Jamaica, Queens, New York.
  2. I listen more than I speak.
  3. I was obsessed with the Power Rangers as a kid. When I was about 9 or 10, I searched the yellow pages for Fox 5’s number. I called. A security guard answered the phone. I asked her if she could help me become the next kid power ranger – I drew my costumes, my zord, I had a whole story line planned out.
  4. Growing up I wanted to be a professional baseball player. If I stuck with it I could’ve definitely made the minor leagues.
  5. I read The Alchemist by Paulo Cohelo once a year.

  1. In middle school, as a snack, I would buy a box of cake mix, prep the batter and eat it in it’s entirety—- it never reached the oven.
  2. I am insanely competitive.

  4. My favorite musical artists right now are Santino Le Saint, Saint Jhn, 6lack, and Giveon.
  5. If I wasn’t acting, I’d probably be backpacking the world trying to figure out the meaning of life.
