'The View' In Talks With Original Host Debbie Matenopoulos To Return As Meghan McCain Exits

The View has confirmed rumors that they’re in talks with Debbie Matenopoulos on her return to the long-running daytime talk show.

The confirmation came after a Daily Mail article stated that ABC was talking with Debbie‘s reps following the announcement that Meghan McCain was leaving the show.

If you don’t know, Debbie was an original cast member of the show and hired just after she graduated college in 1997 at the age of 21. She left in 1999.

Barbara Walters, Meredith Vieira, Star Jones and Joy Behar were the other four original stars.

“Debbie will always have a fond place in her heart for The View, the show that launched her career as a 21-year-old straight out of NYU,” Debbie‘s rep shared in a statement via Deadline.

They added, “Her rep has, in fact, been having conversations with senior executives at ABC News over the past few months about many things, including her participation in celebrating the 25th season of The View, and she appreciates all the interest in her returning.”

Should she return, Debbie would reunite with Joy, as well as join moderator Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines and Sunny Hostin.

Debbie was also the host of Hallmark Channel’s Home & Family.
