Ben Platt Drops New Song 'Happy to Be Sad,' Announces His Upcoming Album 'Reverie'

Ben Platt has released his new single “Happy to Be Sad” and he also just announced that his second studio album is on the way!

The 27-year-old Grammy, Emmy, and Tony-winning performer will be releasing the album Reverie on August 13 via Atlantic Records.

“Happy to Be Sad” is the second single off the album, following the hit song “Imagine.”

“I wrote this song the day after my boyfriend left me for a 5-month stretch,” he said in a statement. “It was the first time we had to be apart long term because of the pandemic. It came incredibly naturally and was an immediate expression of the mixed emotions I was feeling that day- the sadness to be away from him against the joy and celebration of finding someone I love enough to make me feel that way.”
