Ryan Murphy has revealed what an upcoming season of American Crime Story will be about and we’re so excited for this premise!
The Emmy-winning FX anthology series has previously featured The People v O.J. Simpson for season one and The Assassination of Gianni Versace for season two.
Edie Falco will be playing the role of Hillary Clinton in the upcoming FX limited series Impeachment: American Crime Story.
The new show is Ryan Murphy‘s latest installment in his Emmy Award-winning anthology series and this season will follow the Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky sex scandal.
The previous installments in the American Crime Story series were The People v O.J. Simpson, which aired in 2017, and The Assassination of Gianni Versace, which aired in 2018. A season about the Bush administration’s handling of Hurricane Katrina was in the works, but plans were scrapped.
“Sarah Paulson is playing Linda Tripp,” Beanie said in an interview with Variety last year. “I love her more than anything and I’ve always been her no. 1 fan. I think I’ve modeled my life over her life in any way I can. We were always emailing — we had never met, but we were, just in life, had been set up on email and were chatting and when I found out.”
Beanie continued, “If you know the story, [Lewinsky and Tripp] are best friends and then one deeply betrays the other one, [Paulson’s character] betrays me and I just couldn’t be more excited to play that out with the person I think to be one of the best actors of all time. And she’s just so funny and warm and giving, so to take this journey with her is going to be really exciting.”
Here’s your first look at Beanie Feldstein in character as Monica Lewinsky for the upcoming series, Impeachment: American Crime Story!
The 27-year-old Booksmart actress was spotted on set alongside co-star Sarah Paulson on Thursday (December 10) in Los Angeles.
Beanie‘s casting in Impeachment was announced in August 2019, so we’ve been waiting a while to see her in costume. The show is being made by Ryan Murphy and follows the retelling of President Bill Clinton‘s impeachment and relationship with Monica Lewinsky.
The two actresses were both wearing face shields and face masks, so we didn’t get a super clear look at them.

While promoting her new Netflix series, Ratched, the 45-year-old actress talked a bit about turning into Linda Tripp, who was Monica Lewinsky’s confidant, for the new season.
“I’ve gotten the call and it looks like I’m going back to work next month,” she shared, adding that she’s “already had another prosthetic fitting and another two other costume fittings” for her role.
She continued on, saying that “All the sets are built, the White House, Linda’s house, Monica’s apartment. We are definitely beginning it.”
“I don’t know how long it’s going to take to shoot because with all the protocols, it seems like maximum shooting is 10 hours a day,” she explained. “And you know, the scenes are long and intense.”
Sarah adds that her role comes with “an accent to do and a voice — and it’s a whole thing…I mean, God help me. I don’t know what I’m thinking. I have really have to tell you. I was just like, what was, I think, because the scripts were just too good that the character was too interesting to me.”
“Can finally share this with the world. Truly an honor to join @MsSarahPaulson, @BeanieFeldstein, Clive Owen and more in American Crime Story: Impeachment,” Billytweeted to his followers.
Beanie Feldstein will star in the series as Monica Lewinsky and the real Lewinsky is producing the series with Ryan and his team.
Ryan had previous plans to do a series about the White House drama, but he scrapped the plans. He said last year, “I told her, ‘Nobody should tell your story but you, and it’s kind of gross if they do. If you want to produce it with me, I would love that; but you should be the producer and you should make all the goddamn money.’”
Sarah Paulson has joined the cast as White House employee Linda Tripp and Annaleigh Ashford will play former Arkansas state employee Paula Jones, who sued Clinton for sexual harassment.
“FX’s American Crime Story franchise has become a cultural touchstone, providing greater context for stories that deserve greater understanding like the O.J. Simpson trial and saga, and Andrew Cunanan’s tragic crime spree which concluded with the assassination of Gianni Versace,” FX CEO John Landgraf said in a statement. “This franchise re-examines some of the most complicated, polarizing stories in recent history in a way that is relevant, nuanced and entertaining. Impeachment: American Crime Story will likewise explore the overlooked dimensions of the women who found themselves caught up in the scandal and political war that cast a long shadow over the Clinton presidency.”
Impeachment will premiere on FX on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at 10pm. Start your countdown clocks!
