Bruno Mars & Anderson .Paak Beg Recording Academy to Let Them Perform at Grammys 2021

Bruno Mars really, really wants to return to the Grammys stage.

On Sunday (March 7) morning, The Recording Academy announced the list of musicians that will be performing at the upcoming awards show next weekend.

Now, Bruno and Anderson .Paak have started a campaign to get their new band Silk Sonic to perform at the show.

“Dear Grammys, If you can see it in your hearts to allow two out of work musicians to perform at your show, we would really appreciate it,” Bruno started his message on Twitter. “We just released a song and could really use the promotion right now. We have a lot riding on this record (and the Pelicans game next week, but that’s another story).”

“We haven’t been able to perform for a while and we just want to sing,” Bruno added. “We’ll send in an audition tape and take as many covid tests as we need to. I promise we won’t be extra. We just really want a gig again. I hope you’ll consider this request and give us the opportunity to shine. Love, Silk Sonic.”

Bruno‘s plea to the Grammys came after Anderson had started sending countless tweets to Bruno about Silk Sonic not being listed as a performer at the Grammys.

“YO @BrunoMars WHAT THE F–K?!? Did you see this?!?! Call me back!!” Anderson first tweeted along with the list of Grammys performers.

“Nah f–k that! I haven’t seen my family in months!!” Anderson followed up. “I need this to work, You promised me!! Everybody join in!!! I need all of Twitter to help make this trend!! Come on @RecordingAcad #LetSilkSonicThrive”

As of right now, The Recording Academy has not yet publicly addressed whether or not they will be adding Silk Sonic to the Grammys lineup.

In the meantime, you can listen to their new song “Leave the Door Open” here.

The 63rd Annual Grammy Awards will broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+ from 8:00 p.m. ET on Sunday (March 14).
