Watch the 'Cats' Cast Go to a Cats School Run By James Corden

The cast of the new movie Cats went to a “cats school” for several months while preparing for their film… and now we’re getting an inside look at what it might have been like.

For a new sketch on The Late Late Show with James Corden, a bunch of the cast members went to school with James as the headmaster!

James instructed Taylor Swift, Rebel Wilson, Jennifer Hudson, Francesca Hayward, and Jason Derulo in the funny new clip while director Tom Hooper observed.

Cats composer Andrew Lloyd Webber made an appearance to present “Best in Show” to one of the cast members at the end of the clip!

The Hamilton star was joined by so many other Broadway stars to support the stage-to-screen adaptation of the musical.

Queer Eye stars Antoni Porowski and Jonathan Van Ness were both at the event to support their friend Taylor Swift, who stars in the movie.

Some of the Broadway stars who attended the premiere included HerculesKrysta Rodriguez, Hadestown‘s Reeve Carney and Eva Noblezada, Mean GirlsRenee Rapp, former On Your Feet stars Ana Villafane and Josh Segarra, future Company actress Katrina Lenk, former Wicked star Jenna Leigh Green, and Cats‘ original Tony-winning star Betty Buckley.

Also in attendance were Booksmart‘s Beanie Feldstein, model Sara Sampaio, singer Jennifer Nettles, CBS News’ Gayle King, Orange Is the New Black‘s Emma Myles and Dale Soules, theater owner Jordan Roth (in perfect high-fashion Grizabella cosplay), and of course, Cats composer Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Listen to Taylor Swift Sing New Song 'Beautiful Ghosts' for 'Cats'

News just broke that Taylor Swift has co-written a new song for the upcoming Cats movie and now the singer has released a preview of the song “Beautiful Ghosts.”

Universal Pictures dropped a featurette about the making of the song and it includes a clip of Taylor recording it in the studio.

“Beautiful Ghosts” will be performed by Francesca Hayward in the movie and Taylor has recorded her own version for the film’s end credits.

“When I first read the screenplay, the first thing I said was, ‘We have to have a song for Victoria,’” composer Andrew Lloyd Webber said. “Beautiful Ghosts [is now ] an incredibly important and central part of the whole film.”

“What I couldn’t believe was the extraordinary beauty of these lyrics that Taylor had written,” director Tom Hooper said. “It was as if someone had come into the film I was in the middle of making and … had reflected back to me a profound understanding of what we are trying to do with the movie. It was utterly thrilling.”

Taylor added, “You can’t write a modern lyric for Cats. So if you can’t get T.S. Eliot, get T.S… I’m here for you.”

Taylor Swift Co-Wrote a New Song for 'Cats' Movie with Andrew Lloyd Webber!

Taylor Swift will be eligible for the Best Original Song award at the 2020 Academy Awards as she has co-written a new song for the movie Cats!

The 29-year-old entertainer co-wrote the new song “Beautiful Ghosts” with Cats composer Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Ballet star Francesca Hayward, who plays the white cat Victoria in the movie, will sing the song on screen. Taylor‘s version of the song will play in the end credits.

The character of Victoria was expanded for the screen and Lloyd Webber decided to write a new song for her. Variety reports that Taylor offered to write a lyric for the song and ended up contributing to the music as well. The two songwriters share credit for the tune.

Taylor plays the role of Bombalurina in the upcoming musical film and she’ll sing the song “Macavity the Mystery Cat.”

Andrew Lloyd Webber Reveals Which Roles Taylor Swift May Play in 'Cats' Movie

Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber is revealing some details about Taylor Swift‘s involvement in the Cats movie adaptation.

“We’re beginning to rehearse now,” Andrew told Vulture.

He added that Taylor might either play Bombalurina (the flirty cat) or the Demeter (the skittish cat). They sing “Macavity the Mystery Cat.”

“She’s going to play one or other of the ‘Macavity’ girls. Well, basically, [director] Tom Hooper thought it was a really good idea, and of course, she loves cats,” Andrew added. “We’ll see. I mean, I haven’t met her, so I’m looking forward to meeting her and seeing her [at work].”

The movie is also set to star Jennifer Hudson, James Corden and Ian McKellen, and will be released on December 20, 2019.

John Legend Completes EGOT with Emmy Win for 'Jesus Christ Superstar'

John Legend is the latest EGOT winner – someone who has won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony!

The 39-year-old entertainer won his first Emmy at the 2018 Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Sunday night (September 9) in Los Angeles.

John and composers Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice all achieved EGOT status for a win in the Outstanding Variety Special category for producing the Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert special on NBC.

John has won ten Grammys over the years, including Best New Artist in 2006, an Oscar for Best Original Song for writing “Glory” for the movie Selma, and a Tony for Best Revival of a Play for producing Jitney.
