The 40-year-old actress and jury member was joined at the event by fellow jury members including Angela Bassett, Aaron Rodgers, Kathy Najimy, and Debra Messing along with festival founder Robert De Niro.

Other stars at the lunch included Whoopi Goldberg, Billy Crystal and wife Janice, director Rob Reiner, along with Alec Baldwin and wife Hilaria.

During the festival, the jurors will present the Tribeca X Award, celebrating branded storytelling at the intersection of advertising and entertainment.

The 2019 Tribeca Film Festival runs from now until May 5.

Angela Bassett and Robert De Niro hit the red carpet a the premiere of The Apollo on Wednesday night (April 24) at The Apollo Theater in New York City.

The actors attended the screening of the documentary held during the opening night of the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival.

Other stars at the event included Kim Cattrall, American Horror Story‘s Lily Rabe, Coyote Ugly star Piper Perabo, Hocus Pocus actress Kathy Najimy, performer Smokey Robinson, comedian Phoebe Robinson, and Someone Great actress DeWanda Wise.

The Apollo follows the 85-year history of the iconic Harlem music hall.

The documentary will air on HBO later this fall.

Angela Bassett has signed on for the new movie!

The 60-year-old 9-1-1 actress has joined the cast of Gunpowder Milkshake alongside Lena Headey and Karen Gillan.

Gunpowder Milkshake is “a high-concept female-centric assassin thriller that spans multiple generations. Angela will play Anna May, one of the unassuming leaders of a massive armory,” Deadline reports.

Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado are directing the film from a script that they wrote with Ehud Lavski.

Exciting news for fans of the hit Fox shows 9-1-1 and The Resident… both shows are getting third seasons!

The two shows air back-to-back on Monday nights and their success has boosted ratings 24 percent over the comparable period from last season, according to THR.

“911 redefined what a procedural series can be, consistently delivering edge-of-your-seat emergencies, mixed with emotional story arcs and incredible performances from one of the most powerful teams of actors on television,” said Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn.

He added, “The team behind The Resident continue to showcase their brilliant storytelling, revealing both the triumphs and tragedy within the medical world… We want to thank our producing partners, 20th Century Fox Television, who have steered these two extraordinary series. Both 911 and The Resident have many, many more stories to tell and we can’t wait to deliver them to fans next season.”

Fox says that 9-1-1‘s audience across all platforms is 15.4 million people while The Resident is seen by 11 million.

Isla Fisher steps out for The Broad museum’s opening celebration of the new art exhibition Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power on Friday night (March 22) in Los Angeles.

Also in attendance at the event were Jay-Z and Black Panther‘s Angela Bassett with husband Courtney B. Vance.

The exhibition celebrates the work of more than 60 Black artists made over two decades. Jay and more stars arrived for the celebration in Land Rover vehicles.

Others at the event included Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Michael Ealy, Tia Mowry-Hardict, Fran Drescher, Mehcad Brooks, and Tina Knowles with husband Richard Lawson.

Angela Bassett visited Jimmy Kimmel Live last night (March 14) and shared that she still gets Black Panther‘s “Wakanda Forever” salute from fans quite frequently.

“All the time,” the 60-year-old actress revealed. “Like everyday?,” Jimmy inquired.

“Um, not everyday, but um, I think one of the weirdest places: at church,” Angela added. “Lotta Wakandans at Church.”
