The first teaser trailer for Steven Spielberg‘s remake of the classic musical West Side Story has arrived!

Ansel Elgort and newcomer Rachel Zegler star in the film as Tony and Maria alongside EGOT winner Rita Moreno as Valentina, who owns the corner store in which Tony works. The film tells the classic tale of fierce rivalries and young love in 1957 New York City.

For those that don’t know, Rita played the role of Anita in the original film and won an Oscar for her performance. Her role in the remake was created specifically for her!

West Side Story was supposed to hit theaters in December 2020, but the release date was delayed until December 10, 2021 because of the pandemic.

The movie remake of West Side Story is one of the most anticipated films of the year and the first trailer is being released tonight during the Oscars!

The cast features some incredible actors who you probably know, as well as some rising stars who we expect to become household names in the future.

Ansel Elgort is responding to allegations that he sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl back in 2014.

The 26-year-old actor took to Instagram on Saturday (June 20) to release a statement after a girl named Gabby alleged on Twitter that he assaulted her.

“I was distressed to see the social media posts about me that have been circulating in the past 24 hours,” Ansel wrote. “I cannot claim to understand Gabby’s feelings but her description of events is simply not what happened. I have never and would never assault anyone.”

The day before, Gabby detailed an alleged situation that occurred after meeting Ansel online. In her post, Gabby described the alleged sexual encounter with Ansel, writing, “It was my first time and I was sobbing in pain and I didn’t want to do it the only words that came out of his mouth were ‘we need to break you in.’”

The account where the story was posted has now been deleted.

Ansel continued to share his side of his relationship with Gabby, saying that it was “entirely consensual.”

“What is true is that in New York in 2014, when I was 20, Gabby and I had a brief, legal and entirely consensual relationship. Unfortunately, I did not handle the breakup well,” Ansel admitted. “I stopped responding to her, which is an immature and cruel thing to do to someone. I know this belated apology does not absolve me of my unacceptable behavior when I disappeared.”

Ansel concluded: “As I look back at my attitude, I am disgusted and deeply ashamed of the way I acted. I am truly sorry. I know I must continue to reflect, learn, and work to grow in empathy.”

Ansel Elgort shared a very risque photo on Instagram!

The 26-year-old West Side Story star was snapped in the nude inside the shower by his dad, Arthur Elgort.

The link leads his fans to a GoFundMe page, aiming to raise money to feed Brooklyn area frontline workers.

“Local Eats for Brooklyn’s Frontline Fighters in Brookdale Hospital, Brooklyn Hospital, Cumberland Health Center, Gotham Health Clinic East NY, Interfaith Medical Center, NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital (almost Bk – they snuck in!), Woodhull Medical Center and Brooklyn FDNY EMS Battalions 31, 32, 35, 38, 39, 40, 44, 57, 58 & 59,” the fundraiser says.

At the moment, the fundraiser has raised almost $200k out of a goal of $1 million.

“This story is not only a product of its time, but that time has returned, and it’s returned with a kind of social fury,” director Steven Spielberg said in the issue. “I really wanted to tell that Puerto Rican, Nuyorican experience of basically the migration to this country and the struggle to make a living, and to have children, and to battle against the obstacles of xenophobia and racial prejudice.”

Baby Driver was a huge hit when it was released in 2017 and now a sequel has reportedly been greenlit by Sony!

Nothing has been officially confirmed just yet, but fan site GWW is reporting that the movie is going to start production later this year.

Ansel Elgort, Lily James, Jon Bernthal, and CJ Jones are reportedly going to return for the project, which Edgar Wright is expected to direct. He has been developing a script for a while now and it looks like he’s ready to make the movie!

Ansel is currently working on the HBO Max series Tokyo Vice and Edgar is filming his thriller Last Night in Soho.
