Barack Obama Regrets Not Giving This Entertainer the Presidential Medal of Freedom

Barack Obama is looking back on his eight years in the White House.

During his interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the 59-year-old former president revealed that his one “screw up” is not giving Dolly Parton a Presidential Medal of Freedom.

The medal is “awarded by the President of the United States to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the security or national interests of America, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors,” according to the White House.

Stephen asked Obama how the 74-year-old country music icon could not have a Medal of Freedom after all of her humanitarian work. Just recently, it was revealed that Dolly donated $1 million to help scientists develop a coronavirus vaccine.

“That’s a mistake — I’m shocked,” Obama replied. “That was a screw up. I’m surprised. I think I assumed that she had already got one, and that was incorrect.”

However, there’s still a chance that Dolly could be honored with a Medal of Freedom. Obama is hoping that President-Elect Joe Biden will be help to fix the situation when he takes office in January.

“She deserves one,” Obama said. “I’ll call Biden!”

Barack Obama has given Drake his stamp of approval!

During a new interview, the 59-year-old former President said he wouldn’t mind the 34-year-old “God’s Plan” singer playing him in a potential biopic one day.

“I will say this, Drake seems to be able to do anything he wants,” Obama shared on Complex’s 360 With Speedy Morman. “I mean, that is a talented, talented brother. So, if the time comes and he’s ready…”

Obama added, “Drake has, more importantly I think, my household’s stamp of approval. I suspect Malia and Sasha would be just fine with it.”

If you didn’t know, back in 2010 Drake voiced his interest in wanting to play Obama.

“I hope somebody makes a movie about Obama’s life soon because I could play him,” Drake told Paper at the time. “I watch all the addresses. Anytime I see him on TV, I don’t change the channel, I definitely pay attention and listen to the inflections of his voice. If you ask anyone who knows me, I’m pretty good at impressions. Slowly but surely, I’m not in the study mode because nobody’s called me about anything, but I just pay attention so when the day comes I’m not scrambling to learn how to speak like him.”

Drake wouldn’t be the first star to portray Obama on screen. Kingsley Ben-Adir played Obama on the Showtime series The Comey Rule and Parker Sawyers played him in the movie Southside with You.

Michelle Obama Looks Back at Transition from Obama Presidency to Trump Presidency

Michelle Obama is looking back on her husband Barack Obama‘s peaceful transition of power to Donald Trump after the 2016 election amid the current president’s attempts to change the results of the 2020 election.

Trump continues to claim that he won the election, even though the election has been called for Joe Biden.

“This week, I’ve been reflecting a lot on where I was four years ago. Hilary Clinton had just been dealt a tough loss by a far closer margin than the one we’ve seen this year. I was hurt and disappointed—but the votes had been counted and Donald Trump had won. The American people had spoken. And one of the great responsibilities of the presidency is to listen when they do. So my husband and I instructed our staffs to do what George and Laura Bush had done for us: run a respectful, seamless transition of power—one of the hallmarks of American democracy. We invited the folks from the president-elect’s team into our offices and prepared detailed memos for them, offering what we’d learned over the past eight years,” Michelle wrote on Instagram on Monday (November 16).

She continued, “I have to be honest and say that none of this was easy for me. Donald Trump had spread racist lies about my husband that had put my family in danger. That wasn’t something I was ready to forgive. But I knew that, for the sake of our country, I had to find the strength and maturity to put my anger aside. So I welcomed Melania Trump into the White House and talked with her about my experience, answering every question she had—from the heightened scrutiny that comes with being First Lady to what it’s like to raise kids in the White House.”

Michelle concluded, “I knew in my heart it was the right thing to do—because our democracy is so much bigger than anybody’s ego. Our love of country requires us to respect the results of an election even when we don’t like them or wish it had gone differently—the presidency doesn’t belong to any one individual or any one party. To pretend that it does, to play along with these groundless conspiracy theories—whether for personal or political gain—is to put our country’s health and security in danger. This isn’t a game. So I want to urge all Americans, especially our nation’s leaders, regardless of party, to honor the electoral process and do your part to encourage a smooth transition of power, just as sitting presidents have done throughout our history.”

Former President Obama Reacts to Trump's Baseless Election Fraud Claims

Former President Barack Obama is reacting to President Donald Trump‘s continued baseless accusations of election fraud upon his loss to Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election.

The former President spoke out during an interview with 60 Minutes.

“They appear to be motivated, in part, because the president doesn’t like to lose and never admits loss,” he said in a clip.

“I’m more troubled by the fact that other Republican officials who clearly know better are going along with this, are humoring him in this fashion. It is one more step in delegitimizing not just the incoming Biden administration, but democracy generally. And that’s a dangerous path,” he continued.
