Baz Luhrmann walks the red carpet with his wife Catherine Martin at the 2019 Met Gala held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday (May 6) in New York City.

The 56-year-old filmmaker is often the person in charge of the performances at the Met Gala. If you watched the documentary The First Monday in May, you might remember him working with Rihanna for her performance that year.

Baz‘s beloved movie Moulin Rouge is coming to Broadway this summer as a brand new musical that has been updated for 2019.

Guests sipped on specialty cocktails by Absolut Elyx, with names like Electricity, Silk City and Heartbreak Era.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are a picture perfect couple while attending the Women’s Semi-Final match during the 2019 Australian Open on Thursday (January 24) at Melbourne Park in Melbourne, Australia.

The married couple sat next to Vogue‘s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and Australian politician Julie Bishop during the match. At one point, Nicole‘s Moulin Rouge and Australia director Baz Luhrmann stopped by to sit with them!

“I love the tennis! Thanks for having us #AusOpen 🎾,” Nicole wrote on Instagram.

Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic defeated the United States’ Danielle Collins during the match.

The music from Moulin Rouge got a second life after it was heavily featured during the figure skating portion of the 2018 Winter Olympics and the film’s director Baz Luhrmann is loving it!

The filmmaker is opening up about his reaction to the Olympians performing to the music.

“I can tell you that when I woke up and the Moulin Rouge album was No. 13 on the iTunes chart — and I don’t know if it had even been on the charts in 10 years — I was as surprised as everybody else. But hey, I’m happy to consider Moulin Rouge on Ice: The Skating Spectacular! I know how I’d cast it,” he told Variety.

He added, “I look at the routine that the two Canadian skaters [Scott Moir and Tessa Virtue] did, and it’s ballet on ice. … It’s an extraordinary thing to watch. It uplifts the soul. It exalts the spirit. You’re sort of aware of how brilliantly clever the choreography is, but all of that just melds into one gesture, until you’re just completely inside the emotion between those two characters. It’s kind of another level.”

Moulin Rouge will be heading to Broadway soon and it will have a world premiere production in Boston from June 27 through August 5.

Jay-Z suits up for Roc Nation’s The Brunch on Saturday afternoon (January 27) at One World Observatory in New York City.

The 48-year-old rapper was joined at the event by Sean “Diddy” Combs and girlfriend Cassie as they attended the event in honor of the 2018 Grammys.

Gigi and Bella Hadid know how to go all out for their famous friends!

The 22-year-old and 21-year-old models both appeared to have a fabulous time at V Magazine’s Intimate Dinner In Honor of Karl Lagerfeld on Monday (October 23) at the Top of the Standard in New York City.

At the same time, Drake – who is rumored to be dating Bella – celebrated his 31st birthday in LA.

The evening consisted of an intimate dinner with stars including Mariah Carey, Naomi Campbell, Carolyn Murphy, Mario Testino, Martha Stewart, Kris Jenner and more high-profile guests, followed by a surprise performance by Mariah.

Other guests included Baz Luhrmann, Stephen Gan, Zosia Mamet, Yolanda Hadid, Bonner Bolton, Joan Smalls and Sama and Haya Khadra. French Montana also DJed at the event.
