Ben Stiller Stands by Shaun White Amid 'Tropic Thunder' Costume Controversy

Ben Stiller is speaking out to show his support for Shaun White after the Olympian was criticized for his Halloween costume.

Shaun dressed up as Ben‘s character Simple Jack from the movie Tropic Thunder. He was called out by the Special Olympics for dressing up as a disabled man who was referred to as the R-word.

Shaun released an apology for his costume choice and said that he learned his lesson.

Ben spoke out after someone on Twitter joked that people should boycott Tropic Thunder now. The actor pointed out that people boycotted the movie back when it was released, though it was never the filmmakers’ intent to offend.

“Actually Tropic Thunder was boycotted 10 years ago when it came out, and I apologized then. It was always meant to make fun of actors trying to do anything to win awards. I stand by my apology, the movie, Shaun White, And the great people and work of the @SpecialOlympics,” he wrote.
