Bill Maher Defends Armie Hammer Amid Accusations

Bill Maher is defending Armie Hammer.

The host of HBO’s Real Time With Bill Maher spoke out in defense of the Call Me By Your Name actor amid allegations of emotional and physical abuse by a number of women, which has already led to him being dropped by his agents and publicist.

“I think we can talk about this in relation to where feminism is, because apparently, Armie Hammer has a predilection to tell his dates he wants to ‘eat’ them. And who wouldn’t want to be eaten by Armie Hammer? Come on,” he said.

“Apparently this is something called ‘ethical human cannibal fetishism.’ No actual women were eaten in the making of this movie. They were just talking. They have his texts, where he was saying things like, ‘I want to take your rib out and boil it with barbecue sauce.' We’re in such a porn-centric society—people have been watching really hardcore porn for so long that ‘spank you’ doesn’t really cut it anymore," he continued.

“My point is that the women who are objecting to this now, who went out with Armie Hammer—willingly—and stayed in—willingly—and there wasn’t physical bad stuff happening, OK… we can all agree that’s intolerable—but if there wasn’t any physical coercion, why isn’t this just filed under, ‘That seemed like a good idea at the time—to let Armie Hammer eat me—but it really wasn’t.’ It seems like we don’t have any ownership anymore of our own choices," he went on to say.

When one of the guests, TIME correspondent Charlotte Alter, said that “there was some physical stuff” and "some of the women have alleged that there was sort of some slapping around. One woman said he carved his initials into her body," he replied: “Did he tie her down and do that? I don’t think so.”

“I think he is exactly the guy in the book Fifty Shades of Grey, which was the most popular book ever, I think, with women… He’s this rich, handsome, movie star guy, and he’s got a kink...if you’re gonna swim with the alpha sharks, it’s not gonna come out well in the end. Shouldn’t you know that? I mean, is it really that hard to figure out without the law getting involved?” he went on to say.

A new profile also revealed something about Armie Hammer's box office draw.

"Producers and the network are looking at how they can get production safely back into the studio on his return. Sources tells Deadline that the show is continuing to monitor options to return to the studio," the outlet reports.

The move comes as Conan O’Brien became the first late night host to reveal he was leaving his house, and will have a small crew filming at the West Hollywood comedy club, Largo.

Rose McGowan Accuses Bill Maher of Making This Inappropriate & Lewd Comment to Her

Rose McGowan is accusing Bill Maher of making an inappropriate and lewd comment to her during an appearance on his talk show in the 1990s.

She tweeted at him over the weekend, "Here’s a memory I’d like to share with you. I bet you don’t remember, but I sure do. I was so excited to be on your show & get to flex my mind instead of my face. Here’s what happened. All I can say, Bill, you got the face you deserved."

She then added, "I was on your show Politically Incorrect in the late 90s- as the show returned from a commercial break, you leaned over to me & [sic] whispered in my hear, 'my parents didn't give me a good face, but they did give me a huge c--k.' I could feel your hot breath on my ear as an image of both your hideous face & alleged big c--k flashed in my mind. Both turned my stomach. I've always wondered what you say & do to the girls that aren't famous."

This is not the first time Rose has called out a famous male celebrity. She did so just a few weeks ago.
