The two performers kicked off the night by paying tribute to a lot of movies that came out this year. The other dancers on stag were dressed like characters from films like Joker, Jojo Rabbit, and more.
Janelle wore a dress like the May Queen in the movie Midsommar while dancing through the audience and having audience members like Leonardo DiCaprio, Brie Larson, and Kathy Bates sing into the microphone.

Billy Porter makes a grand entrance on the red carpet at the 2020 Academy Awards on Sunday (February 9) at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
The 50-year-old Pose actor was first up on the red carpet this year and he surely dressed to impress with a gold look.
Billy‘s look was styled by his longtime stylist Sam Ratelle with grooming by Anna Bernabe.

Criticism even came from a Republican state senator from Arkansas, Jason Rapert, who wrote: “Do you approve of your taxpayer dollars being used to promote the radical LGBTQ agenda?”
“If you don’t like it, don’t watch it,” he told Page Six, saying he finds it odd that people would compare the dress to “perverted demon sex.”
“Like, what about me singing with a penguin [on Sesame Street] has anything to do with what I’m doing in my bedroom? The really interesting thing for me is that that’s what it’s all about when it comes to LGBTQ people — the first thing everyone wants to talk about is how we having sex,” Billy clapped back.
“Stay out of my bedroom and you will be fine. That is none of your business,” he added.

The 50-year-old Pose star gave the speech for Logo’s second annual event on Tuesday (February 4), just ahead of President Donald Trump‘s third State of the Union address to the nation.
“Last year, I told you that the state of our union is strong,” Billy said. “While it certainly has been battered, our union is far from broken. Now, in 2020, our responsibility as citizens has been more evident.”
Billy asked viewers to make sure to vote in 2020 to bring an end to Trump‘s presidency, which Billy called “one of the biggest crises of my lifetime.”
He called out Trump‘s ban on transgender people in the U.S. military “with a tweet,” his support of the rule that would let health care professionals refuse LGBTQ people medical procedures, his proposal to allow single-sex homeless shelters to not let in transgender people, and more.
“Donald J. Trump has painted himself as a friend of the LGBTQ community, while revealing his true colors at every malicious turn,” Billy continued. “This heinous violence against trans people, which disproportionately affects trans women of color is nothing short of an epidemic. We must confront it as a community and as a country, and we must elect officials who recognize it for the crisis that it is.”
In his speech, Billy also addressed gun violence, climate change, immigrants, and women’s reproductive rights: “The fate of the entire country is in the balance. I know it sounds dramatic, but if now is not the time for drama, child, when is?”
“Remember that we have far more that connects us than sets us apart,” he added. “So, love one another, take care of one another, and let’s secure the future for those who will inherit it. In the words of the great James Baldwin, ‘Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.’”

It was just announced that Billy will be appearing on an episode of Sesame Street and will be wearing his iconic dress from the 2019 Oscars.
“@theebillyporter bringing those fierce vibes to Sesame Street for #Season51,” the show wrote on their Instagram. “An iconic day with an iconic person.”
Billy replied, “Y’all, talk about iconic…I was tickled to meet @elmo and the gang at @sesamestreet!”
