'Black Christmas' Opening Weekend Box Office Numbers Revealed

The opening weekend box office numbers for Black Christmas are in, and unfortunately, the movie was not a big hit.

The remake of the cult horror film debuted at fifth place at the box office, pulling in just $4.4 million in its opening few days, according to Deadline.

The film was also critically disliked: it currently commands a D+ Cinemascore, and a 43% Rotten Tomatoes rating.

In the film, Hawthorne College is quieting down for the holidays, but as Riley Stone (Imogen Poots) and her Mu Kappa Epsilon sisters—athlete Marty (Lily Donoghue), rebel Kris (Aleyse Shannon and foodie Jesse (Brittany O’Grady)—prepare to deck the halls with a series of seasonal parties, a black-masked stalker begins killing sorority women one by one.

The audience was primarily made up of men over 25 (32%) and women over 25 (29%), followed by women under 25 at 25%, and 15% men under 25.

Black Christmas is coming!

The forthcoming horror movie hits theaters on December 13.

Here’s a plot summary: Hawthorne College is quieting down for the holidays. But as Riley Stone (Imogen Poots) and her Mu Kappa Epsilon sisters—athlete Marty (Lily Donoghue), rebel Kris (Aleyse Shannon), and foodie Jesse (Brittany O’Grady)—prepare to deck the halls with a series of seasonal parties, a black-masked stalker begins killing sorority women one by one. As the body count rises, Riley and her squad start to question whether they can trust any man, including Marty’s beta-male boyfriend, Nate (Simon Meady), Riley’s new crush Landon (Caleb Eberhardt) or even esteemed classics instructor Professor Gelson (Cary Elwes).

The movie is a remake of the 1974 film, Black Christmas.

Imogen Poots Set for ‘Black Christmas’ Remake for Blumhouse!

Black Christmas is getting remade and will be released this year!

The Blumhouse horror film will star Imogen Poots in a leading role with Aleyse Shannon, Brittany O’Grady, Lily Donoghue and Caleb Eberhardt.

If you don’t know, the original was released in 1974 and is considered one of the earliest slasher pics.

The movie is set to be released on Friday, December 13.
