There’s a lot of pressure when it comes to putting on an episode of Saturday Night Live: it is live, after all.

As a result, cast members and hosts need to stick to their scripts closely in order to keep the sketches flowing smoothly – and they also need to keep a straight face as they fly through dozens of jokes every night. But what happens when they…can’t?

Time and time again, we’ve watched over the years as the cast of SNL, and myriad celebrity hosts, absolutely lose it after cracking up at one of the jokes they’ve said, the sheer absurdity of the sketch, or something entirely unexpected happening in a scene. In most cases, it only makes the sketch even more hilarious for the audience watching at home.

We’ve rounded up some of the best moments where the SNL stars have absolutely lost it during a sketch.

Jaime King is all smiles as she poses alongside her husband Kyle Newman on the carpet at the premiere of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker held at the TCL Chinese Theater on Monday night (December 16) in Hollywood.

The Black Summer actress was also joined at the event by The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal and Gina Carano, Pete Wentz and his son Bronx Wentz, Constance Zimmer, Aisha Tyler, Ava DuVernay, Bobby Moynihan, Derek Hough and Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo.

Also in attendance to show their support for the film was Jay and Silent Bob Reboot stars Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith, Frozen‘s Josh Gad, Mario Lopez, Matt Lanter, Ming-Na Wen, Modern Family‘s Nolan Gould and Rico Rodriguez, Raini Rodriguez, Seth Green, Spike Lee and Yvette Nicole Brown.

Jaime provided the voice of bounty hunter Aurra Sing and thief Cassie Cryar in the animated series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars. At the after party, she snacked on a McDonald’s Happy Meal and reminisced about being a kid in her Instagram post. She wrote, “Ever since I was little we would run to our local @mcdonalds to get the amazing #happymeal Star Wars toys! I treasure those memories.”

Jenny Slate and Kevin Hart happily strike a pose while attending The Secret Life Of Pets 2: In-Store Experience at FAO Schwarz’s flagship store at 30 Rockefeller Plaza on Monday (May 21) in New York City.

The 37-year-old actress and the 39-year-old actor were joined at the event by their voice co-stars Lake Bell, Patton Oswalt, Eric Stonestreet and Bobby Moynihan.

Jenny and the rest of the cast members happily met and signed autographs for Pets 2 fans ahead of the nationwide premiere on June 7.

The Secret Life of Pets 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to the 2016 comedic blockbuster that had the biggest opening weekend ever for an original film, animated or otherwise.

The movie will follow 2016’s blockbuster about the lives our pets lead after we leave for work or school each day.

Taran Killam is joined by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Joe Manganiello at the premiere of Killing Gunther on Saturday night (October 14) in Los Angeles.

The 35-year-old actor – who stars in the film while also directing and writing it – was also joined on the red carpet by wife and co-star Cobie Smulders and Bobby Moynihan.

The film is about a group of professional assassins joining forces to try and kill the world’s best hit man.

Killing Gunther hits theaters on October 20.

Tom Hanks keeps close to his wife Rita Wilson while hitting the carpet at their 2017 Simply Shakespeare Benefit Gala held at the Freud Playhouse at UCLA on Monday (September 18) in Westwood, Calif.

The happy couple, who have hosted the event since 1990, were joined by Finn Wittrock, Ben Harper and his pregnant wife Jaclyn Matfus, Evan Handler, Twin Peaks star Kyle MacLachlan, Bobby Moynihan, Alfred Molina and Michael Chiklis.

The benefit is held to raise funds for The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles, which says it’s ‘committed to continuous quality improvements of its artistry and to establishing a world-class Shakespeare company engaging the finest talent in the world.’

Maya Rudolph looks pretty in a sleeveless, floral dress as she attends the premiere of The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature on Saturday afternoon (August 5) at Regal Cinemas in Los Angeles.

The 45-year-old actress was joined at the premiere by her co-star Will Arnett who posed for pictures with a mascot of his character Surly on the red carpet!
