Lil Nas X Gets Real About Clapping Back at Trolls In 'Entertainment Weekly's Pride Issue

Lil Nas X goes shirtless on the new cover of Entertainment Weekly.

The 22-year-old musician shares the Pride issue with MJ Rodriguez, Lena Waithe and Bowen Yang, and all four opened up about their trailblazing careers.

In Lil Nas X‘s feature, he opened up about his actions on social media prior to getting his big break.

“When I first got famous, I would block everybody,” he shared, recalling the trolls who flooded (and continue to flood) his mentions. “But now it’s like, okay, cool. For me, I would rather somebody hate the s*** out of me when they’re talking about me rather than not say anything at all, because that’s giving more power to my name.”

Now, he has the mentality of clapping back at the naysayers when they come out.

“I’m very much a chaotic, good person,” he added. “I almost never want to start shooting at somebody who didn’t bring it to my doorstep, you know? But I kind of live for when somebody tries to get me and I’m ready to throw it back at them tenfold. Do I feel bad about it sometimes? Every now and then, but I feel less bad knowing that I didn’t start it. I try to never throw stones, but if somebody throws one at me, I’m throwing an entire house.”

Bowen Yang Gives Impassioned Speech to Stop Anti-Asian Violence on 'Saturday Night Live' - Watch Now

Bowen Yang is speaking out about the violence against Asian Americans.

The 30-year-old actor and comedian made an appearance during the “Weekend Update” segment on Saturday Night Live on Saturday (March 27) to tell viewers to “do more” to stop anti-Asian racism.

“If someone’s personality is punching Asian grandmas, it’s not a dialogue. I have an Asian grandma, you want to punch her, there ain’t no common ground, mama,” Bowen said. “I see my friends donating and that’s great, but then I also tell them: do more. You’re ordering from Chinese restaurants? Great. Do more. Let me know when you feed your white kids chicken feet. You cried during ‘Minari’? Congrats. I was sobbing into my boner for Steven Yeun. Do more.”

“And why are you telling me you tipped your manicurist well?” he continued. “Let me know when you get on your knees and scrub her feet while she looks at your phone. Do more.”

Bowen also referenced Xiao Zhen Xie, the elderly Asian woman who fought back after she was attacked in San Francisco. People then set up a GoFundMe page for her, which raised almost $1 million. She now plans on donating the money to the Asian American community to combat racism.

“I’m just a comedian. I don’t have all the answers,” Bowen added. “But I’m not just looking for them online. I’m looking around me. The GoFundMe for Xiao Zhen Xie, the grandmother who fought back against her attacker raised $900,000, which she immediately gave back to the community. That’s where we are as Asians. Now come meet us there.”
