Queen’s Brian May Suffered a Heart Attack While Recovering from a Crushed Nerve

Brian May, the longtime guitarist for the band Queen, is facing more setbacks to his health.

The 72-year-old rocker recently opened up about being hospitalized after hurting his butt while gardening, which ended up leading to a crushed nerve.

Brian said that the nerve was "quite severely compressed and that's why I had this feeling that someone was putting a screwdriver in my back."

While recovering, Brian suffered a heart attack that could have been fatal.

"In the middle of the whole saga of the painful backside I had a small heart attack," Brian said on Instagram. "I actually turned out to have three arteries which were congested and in danger of blocking the supply of blood to my heart."

Brian opened up about his health battle, which you can watch in the video below.

Queen’s Brian May Hospitalized After Hurting His Butt While Gardening

Brian May has been hospitalized - but he's doing okay, and it's not related to the pandemic.

The 72-year-old Queen superstar shared an update for fans on Wednesday (May 6).

"Reality check ! For me. No - the Virus didn’t get me yet - thank God. Hope you’re all keeping extra-safe out there. A decision to relax controls doesn’t suddenly make the danger go away. But me ?? Yes, I’ve been quiet. Reason ? As well as getting over-stretched and harassed by too many demands ... I managed to rip my Gluteus Maximus to shreds in a moment of over-enthusiastic gardening," he revealed.

"So suddenly I find myself in a hospital getting scanned to find out exactly how much I’ve actually damaged myself. Turns out I did a thorough job - this is a couple of days ago - and I won’t be able to walk for a while ... or sleep, without a lot of assistance, because the pain is relentless. So, folks ... I need to go dark for a while, getting some complete rest, at home. Please, please don’t send me sympathy - I just need some healing silence for a while. I’ll be back - but I need the complete break. OK ? Thanks. Take care out there. Bri," he continued.

He recently teamed up with his band and Adam Lambert to do this for frontline workers.

Adam Lambert & Queen Record New Version of ‘We Are The Champions’ Dedicated to Frontline Workers

Adam Lambert and Queen re-recorded "We Are The Champions" for a very special group of people - frontline workers.

The musicians recorded their new version of the iconic song from home, where they're staying home and staying safe amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“Just like we sent our young men and women into two world wars to fight, these young men and women are now fighting for us and risking their lives every day,” guitarist Brian May shared with Rolling Stone about the new version. “That’s what this song has become about. It’s for everyone who is out there working and putting their life at risk.”

There were a few different versions that came out of this team up, however, Adam's "You Are the Champions" line won out.

“We told him to experiment and maybe do a few different versions,” Brian shared. “He came up with changing those words in the last chorus and I think it was a very good solution, just perfect. It takes a different turn at the end.”

Listen to the new version, which will benefit the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, below!
