Amy Smart is speaking out to defend her husband Carter Oosterhouse against claims of sexual misconduct that were made against him this week.

The 41-year-old HGTV star was accused of coercing a makeup artist on one of his former shows into giving him oral sex multiple times, but Carter says they were in a consensual relationship.

“We are in a climate right now where it’s so wonderful and needed to have women coming forward to break their silence; it is vital and important for female equality. Period. A lot of the stories are horrific and need to be brought to light. This story, about my husband, Carter Oosterhouse, on the other hand, is now taking it too far and boundaries are being crossed,” Amy wrote in an Instagram post on Saturday (December 16).

“When you are in a CONSENSUAL RELATIONSHIP, then you need to take responsibility for engaging in that and not play victim. IF a relationship does not work out the way you want it to, then sorry, but that is the risk you take when getting intimate with another person,” she added.

Carter Oosterhouse has been accused of coerced oral sex by a makeup artist who worked on his show Carter Can.

Kailey Kaminsky says that she gave into Carter‘s alleged demands after months of badgering and having her employment threatened.

“At that point I was a nervous wreck,” Kailey told THR. “I was so worn down from his advances, so I did: that day, on that occasion. It was the first time. Then thereafter it was most every time we would shoot – 10 to 15 times he put me in this position.”

Kailey, who identifies as a lesbian,car says that the experience led to her being hospitalized for depression.

“I would have never done anything that I was not sure was mutually agreeable. The reality is that I knew it was consensual because she initiated it the first time and many of the 15 or so times we had oral sex thereafter,” Carter told THR in a statement, adding that the relationship was “100 percent mutual.”

Carter is currently the host of ABC’s The Great Christmas Light Fight. He is married to actress Amy Smart and they have an 11-month-old daughter, Flora.

Congratulations are in order for Amy Smart and her husband Carter Oosterhouse – they have welcomed their first child together!

The 40-year-old actress announced the happy news on her Instagram account on New Year’s Eve.

“It is with great gratitude and pleasure to welcome our little girl Flora🌸 to the world. What a blessed way to bring in 2017🙏🏼 Amen and Thank You God for this special new life!! �’�🙌🏼😇,” she captioned a photo of her and Carter holding their baby girl in the hospital.

Amy and Carter have been married since 2011.

This has been a tough week for Kaley as a second dog of hers just died.

“It hasn’t been a great week for dogs so with a heavy heart I must tell you, sweet Chester (aka Chedder cheese) has passed away. We rescue these angels blindly and have no idea what problems they may have.. I’m still in shock but I just keep feeling blessed to have him in my life even for a small amount of time. He was such a joy- hilarious ears and followed me everywhere I went. He loved people so so much- loved being held and cuddled. Slept right on my pillow every night. I can sleep knowing that he felt extreme love towards the end of his life. Thank you @pawworks for blessing me with the big eared wonder,” Kaley wrote on her Instagram account.
