Baz Luhrmann steps out for the opening night performance of Broadway’s Moulin Rouge musical on Thursday (July 25) at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in New York City.

The 56-year-old filmmaker, who wrote and directed the film version, was joined at the event by his wife Catherine Martin, as well as Vogue‘s Anna Wintour and her daughter Bee Shaffer.

Baz and Catherine are credited by the production for their “creative services.”

More stars in attendance at the event included Billy Eichner, Lin-Manuel Miranda, John Mulaney, Gloria Estefan and husband Emilio, as well as Broadway stars Stephanie Styles, Bernadette Peters, Ariana DeBose, Nick Adams, Jessica Vosk, and Steven Pasquale, plus producer Jordan Roth.

The 56-year-old filmmaker is often the person in charge of the performances at the Met Gala. If you watched the documentary The First Monday in May, you might remember him working with Rihanna for her performance that year.

Baz‘s beloved movie Moulin Rouge is coming to Broadway this summer as a brand new musical that has been updated for 2019.

The 51-year-old filmmaker was joined on the red carpet by his wife Catherine Martin.

According to The Wrap, Baz is in negotiations to direct an upcoming Elvis Presley biopic written by Kelly Marcel. Details on the project are being kept under wraps by the studio, but we can’t wait to see it!

Ziyi Zhang is the lady in red while attending the Valentino fashion show as part of Paris Fashion Week Haute-Couture Fall/Winter 2013-2014 on Wednesday (July 3) at the Hotel Salomon de Rothschild in Paris, France.

The 34-year-old actress was joined at the show by director Baz Luhrmann (with daughter Lillian), Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, and fashionistas Olivia Palermo and Nicky Hilton.

Last week, Ziyi was awarded with the Order of Arts and Letters Chevalier by the French Minister of Culture.
