It turns out that Chadwick Boseman was almost the star in the sequel for L.A. Confidential.
In a new interview, screenwriter Brian Helgeland shared that the potential sequel would have included the late Black Panther actor, and also reunited Russell Crowe and Guy Pearce.

There is a very moving moment in the trailer for Marvel‘s What If…?, which just arrived Thursday (July 8).
The upcoming Disney+ series will explore major events in the Marvel universe.
A two-minute preview aired during a presentation, and featured an unexpectedly emotional inclusion: the late Chadwick Boseman, reprising his iconic Black Panther character, T’Challa.
Chadwick sadly passed away in August of 2020 of colon cancer.
What If…? is scheduled to premiere on August 11 with a first season consisting of 10 episodes. It also features fan-favorite characters including Peggy Carter, Doctor Strange, Killmonger, Thor and more.
One of Chadwick‘s Black Panther co-stars recently opened up about losing the actor, as well as what’s happening now with the movie’s sequel.

Chadwick Boseman is being honored by Howard University in a big way.
The university will be memorializing the late actor, who passed away from colon cancer in 2020, by renaming one of their colleges after him.

Yara Shahidi appears on stage to present the award for Best Performance in a Movie at the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards on Sunday night (May 16) at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.
The winner of the award was Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom actor Chadwick Boseman and Yara accepted the award on his behalf.
“I’m so honored to accept this award on behalf of Chadwick Boseman. I know I speak for myself, his legions of fans, and the communities he so beautifully represented when I say we are honored to celebrate his art today and every day. His impact is everlasting and we are eternally grateful for the ways his presence and his art have changed the world. We love you and we miss you,” she said.

Lupita Nyong’o is talking Black Panther 2.
In a new interview, the 38-year-old Oscar winner shared an update on the sequel for her mega-hit Marvel movie, while admitting that she’s still processing co-star Chadwick Boseman‘s death.
“People will ask me, ‘Are you excited to go back?’ Excitement isn’t the word. I feel like I’m in a very pensive and meditative state when it comes to Black Panther 2. His passing is still extremely raw for me,” Lupita shared with Yahoo! Movies. “And I can’t even begin to imagine what it will be like to step on set and not have him there.”
Lupita then talked about how director Ryan Coogler is “reshaping” the new movie without Chadwick, who played the Black Panther.
“But at the same time we have a leader in Ryan, who feels very much like we do, who feels the loss in a very, very real way as well. And his idea, the way which he has reshaped the second movie is so respectful of the loss we’ve all experienced as a cast and as a world,” Lupita explained. So it feels spiritually and emotionally correct to do this. And hopefully, what I do look forward to, is getting back together and honoring what he started with us and holding his light through it. Because he left us a lot of light that we’re still going to be bathing in. I know that for sure.”
