Ed Sheeran is opening up about his daughter’s name.
The 30-year-old “Bad Habits” performer welcomed his first child with wife Cherry, Lyra Antarctica, at the end of August 2020.
During an appearance on Lorraine on Thursday (July 1), Ed discussed becoming a father and how he and Cherry decided on their daughter’s unique name.

We don’t often get to see Prince George at events, but this week he made a rare appearance with his mom, Duchess Kate Middleton, and dad, Prince William, at the UEFA Euro 2020 Championship Round of 16 match between England and Germany at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday (June 29) in London, England.

Ed Sheeran is opening up about life with his daughter, Lyra, in a rare interview.
The 30-year-old singer-songwriter and wife Cherry Seaborn welcomed the baby girl at the end of August of 2020.
Speaking ahead of his appearance at Radio 1′s Big Weekend, he told BBC Radio 1 that Lyra isn’t the biggest fan of his music yet.
“I definitely spent hours and hours in front of the mirror pretending to be essentially what I am now. Practice makes perfect,” he says. “Now I’ll sing [my new songs] to my daughter, who’s not my biggest fan. She just cries!”
Ed added that there are some songs she does like, and they include “‘Shape of You.’ The marimba sound is good, but she doesn’t like anything loud or anything belt-y.”

Ed Sheeran has announced some exciting news – he and his wife Cherry Seaborn have welcomed a baby daughter named Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran!
The 29-year-old singer announced the news on his Instagram account, writing, “Ello! A quick message from me as I have some personal news that I wanted to share with you… Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter – Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.”
Ed added, “We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I’ll see you when it’s time to come back, Ed x”
Ed and Cherry never officially announced their pregnancy but rumors spread earlier in August that they might be expecting their first child. We have not heard too much from Ed lately as he’s been on an extended break.

Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn are reportedly expecting!
The 29-year-old “Shape of You” singer and his wife are said to be expecting a baby soon after quietly becoming pregnant amid lockdown, according to The Sun on Tuesday night (August 11).
The news follows Ed‘s announcement that he is taking a break from music at the end of 2019, following over two years of touring.
“Ed and Cherry are over the moon. They’re very excited, but have kept things very low-key. Lockdown was a perfect excuse not to be seen out and about too much, but things are getting closer and the excitement has been building so they have started telling friends and family. They’re just making the last of the preparations at home, and the baby is expected later this summer (in the UK),” a source told the outlet.
The Sun also reports that Cherry shared the news with some of her closest circle of friends online this week.
“It’s a really happy time and their families are all totally delighted for them and cannot wait to meet the new arrival,” the source adds.
Ed confirmed his marriage to Cherry back in June of 2019.

The 28-year-old crooner and his wife can be seen goofing off with food, sharing a kiss, dancing, and cuddling on the couch in the video, which features a number of couples’ stories.
“Back in high school, Ed and Cherry were crushing hard. They made out at the castle on the hill. A few years ago they reconnected, there were fireworks. They married in January 2019,” the caption on the video says during their segment towards the end.
Ella Mai, who sings on the tune, also has her own clip after Ed and Cherry‘s.
“The voice you just fell in love with is Ella Mai. She just swiped right,” the captioned read for Ella‘s moment at the end, before she went off on a date.
