Chris Hemsworth is joining 2021 Shark Week with his own in depth program on sharks, called Chris Hemsworth Getting Familiar with Sharks.
The 37-year-old Australian actor is featured in just one of the programs on National Geographic’s annual Shark Week, which kicked off tonight (July 5).
In Chris Hemsworth Getting Familiar with Sharks, Chris is on a “mission to uncover the science of shark behavior and discover how humans and sharks can safely coexist. There’s been an increase in local shark attacks on the east coast of Australia, which leads him to try to understand the different species of sharks and their behaviors.”
Speaking to press about the program, Chris shared that “where I live, we’ve just had the worst bate of fatal shark encounters in a century. I wanna find out if we can live together without doing each other harm.”
In Chris Hemsworth Getting Familiar with Sharks, Chris will speak to underwater conservationist, Valerie Taylor.
“It’s such a privilege seeing these massive creatures up close,” he added.
Chris Hemsworth Getting Familiar with Sharks is streaming now on Disney+, and will re-air on NatGeo Wild in August.

On Saturday (June 12), the 37-year-old Thor actor took to Instagram to send a birthday message to the Captain America actor in honor of his 40th birthday.
“Happy 40th birthday Chris Evans, you’ll always be number 1 in my book 🎉🎉 @chrisevans,” Hemsworth wrote.
Along with the message, Hemsworth also shared a selfie with his co-star, but it’s not with Evans!
The 37-year-old Thor actor and the 44-year-old Fast & Furious actress were seen getting breakfast with his parents Craig and Leonie on Saturday (May 29) at Queens Courtyard in Sydney, Australia.
Chris and Elsa were seen greeting a young fan at one point and they snapped some photos with him.
