Jon Hamm & Sam Rockwell Premiere 'Richard Jewell' at AFI Fest 2019

Jon Hamm and Sam Rockwell suit up for the premiere of Richard Jewell on Wednesday night (November 20) at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, Calif.

Joining the guys at the premiere held during the 2019 AFI Fest included fellow cast members Kathy Bates, Paul Walter Hauser, and Ian Gomez along with director Clint Eastwood.

The film follows American security guard, Richard Jewell, who heroically saves thousands of lives from an exploding bomb at the 1996 Olympics, but is unjustly vilified by journalists and the press who falsely report that he was a terrorist.

Clint Eastwood-Directed 'Richard Jewell' Releases Trailer - Watch!

The film, which is directed by Clint Eastwood and based on true events, tells the story of what happens when what is reported as fact obscures the truth.

Here’s a plot summary: Richard Jewell is the security guard who reports finding the device at the 1996 Atlanta bombing—his report making him a hero whose swift actions save countless lives. But within days, the law enforcement wannabe becomes the FBI’s number one suspect, vilified by press and public alike, his life ripped apart. Reaching out to independent, anti-establishment attorney Watson Bryant, Jewell staunchly professes his innocence. But Bryant finds he is out of his depth as he fights the combined powers of the FBI, GBI and APD to clear his client’s name,while keeping Richard from trusting the very people trying to destroy him.

Sam Rockwell, Kathy Bates, Jon Hamm, Olivia Wilde and Paul Walter Hauser star in the movie.

Jon Hamm & Olivia Wilde Shoot 'Ballad of Richard Jewell' in Atlanta

Jon Hamm and Olivia Wilde are hard at work on their upcoming movie The Ballad of Richard Jewell!

The 48-year-old Black Mirror actor and the 35-year-old Booksmart actress were spotted on set on Wednesday (July 24) at Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta.

They were joined by director Clint Eastwood.

Olivia donned a plunging, printed blouse with a high-waisted beige skirt.

Jon was also seen sporting a more casual outfit – a white t-shirt with red shorts and a red baseball cap – while holding onto some to-go food earlier in the day.

Olivia Wilde & Jon Hamm Team Up For Clint Eastwood's Film 'Richard Jewell'

Olivia Wilde and Jon Hamm have joined the cast of Clint Eastwood’s upcoming film Richard Jewell!

The duo are set to star in the film, which is based on a Vanity Fair article chronicling the life of Richard Jewell after he became a suspect for the pipe-bombing at Centennial Park during the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

Richard, a real-life security guard, had his life turned upside down after law enforcement leaked to an overzealous reporter that he was a possible suspect.

According to Variety, Olivia will play reporter Kathy Scruggs, who covered the event, and Jon will play an FBI agent investigating the bombing.

The cast already includes Paul Walter Hauser, Sam Rockwell and Kathy Bates.

Sam Rockwell Will Star in Clint Eastwood's 'Ballad of Richard Jewell'

Sam Rockwell is joining forces with Clint Eastwood in his upcoming film The Ballad of Richard Jewell!

The 50-year-old Fosse/Verdon actor is in final negotiations to star in the 89-year-old director and producer’s drama, Variety reports.

The Ballad of Richard Jewell is inspired by “the real-life security guard whose world was turned upside down after law enforcement leaked to an overzealous reporter at the Atlanta Journal Constitution that Jewell was a possible suspect for the pipe-bombing at Centennial Park during the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. From that moment on, Jewell went from a hero, who first discovered the suspicious abandoned backpack and saved hundreds of lives, to one of the most hated men in America.”

Sam will play “the attorney who defends Jewell after he is wrongly accused.” The role of Jewell has not been cast yet.

Jonah Hill and Leonardo DiCaprio were originally attached to star (Leonardo in Sam Rockwell‘s role), but they will reportedly now produce and not star.

Clint, Scott, & Alison Eastwood Have Family Night at 'The Mule' Premiere!

Clint Eastwood, son Scott Eastwood, and daughter Alison Eastwood make it a family night at the world premiere of Clint and Alison‘s new movie The Mule!

The 88-year-old Gran Torino actor, the 32-year-old Pacific Rim Uprising star, and the 46-year-old Battlecreek actress joined forces at the event held at Regency Village Theatre on Monday (December 10) in Westwood, Calif.

Clint stars in, directed, and produced the film.

They were also joined by co-stars Taissa Farmiga, Michael Pena, Andy Garcia, Dianne Wiest, Clifton Collins Jr., Manny Montana, Noel Gugliemi, Ignacio Serricchio, Loren Dean, Lobo Sebastian, Victor Rasuk, and Austin Freeman.

Clint‘s granddaughter Graylen, his girlfriend Christina Sandera, and his ex-wife Maggie Johnson were also there to show their support, along with Max Adler, Elisabeth Rohm, Alex Meneses, Steve Guttenberg, Marcia Gay Harden, Patrick Fabian, Joey Fatone, Brett Dalton, Betsy Brandt, Logan Shroyer, Kim Raver, David Hasselhoff, Hayley Roberts, and Toby Keith.

In The Mule, a 90-year-old horticulturist and WWII veteran is caught transporting $3 million worth of cocaine through Michigan for a Mexican drug cartel.

Tom Hanks, Kathy Bates and Clint Eastwood are taking the stage!

The three superstars all attended the 2018 Governors Awards on Sunday night (November 18) at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood.

During the ceremony, Academy Honorary Awards were given to Cicely Tyson, Lalo Schifrin and Marvin Levy. The Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award went to Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall.

Clint presented the award to Lalo. Tom and Kathy spoke to the crowd during the event.
