Fans believed that Lili Reinhart‘s candid new interview was about her rumored breakup from her Riverdale co-star Cole Sprouse.

However, she’s now clarifying the quotes from the article in question were not about a breakup at all, despite the article directly saying, “[Reinhart] is dealing with the very real turmoil associated with leaving a relationship.”

“Quotes taken from my most recent interview are not about a ‘breakup.’ They are about the depression I’ve felt over these last few months. Tired of people taking my words out of context and piecing together their own story for clickbait,” Lili posted. “I would never speak so candidly about something as personal as a breakup. That’s incredibly private. I was addressing my depression.”

There were rumors that Lili and Cole broke up back in May, but nothing was ever confirmed.

UPDATE: Lili Reinhart has confirmed that her quotes were taken out of context and is revealing what all of these quotes are actually referring to.

Fans believe Lili Reinhart is speaking out about the end of her relationship with Riverdale co-star and on-again/off-again boyfriend Cole Sprouse and how the pandemic has caused a ton of life changes for her.

“This has been the first time in four years where I’ve been able to like stop and process the immense life changes that I’ve gone through,” Lili told Refinery29, adding she felt like a “black tunnel [that] was never going to end…I couldn’t see the light. I was like, I feel like I’m dying. It was f*cking rough, and there’s no other way through it than just through it. I’ve seen a lot of people when it comes to heartache and grief and breakups, and they try to get that void filled with sex, with coke, with food, with drinking, [but] the void is still there. I took the road less traveled and just dealt with my sh*t. I had to face my own pain head-on.”

“The last couple of months have probably [been] the most emotional few months of my entire life and my therapist [told] me, ‘Your body’s going through withdrawal from love,” Lili continued. “‘You’re used to having this exchange of happy chemicals between you and the person that you’re with.’ In moments of my life, I have dropped every ounce of pride that I had just to be like, Love me. Please take the pain away for a day, a second, an hour, just so I can feel that fix again.”

Lili also spoke about her new collection of poems, “Swimming Lessons,” being released next month. “I felt the need to write that because I was scared — and I am scared — that people are going to try and create their own idea of what my love life looked or looks like.”

One line seems to be grabbing fan attention in the article, and it directly refers to some of the poems Lili has written: “I’m not saying, My boyfriend f*cked another woman. I’m saying, I felt betrayed.”

Lili also recently came out just a few weeks ago.

Cole Sprouse took a social media break and is explaining the reason why after a month of not posting.

“Know I’ve been off of social media for a while. Decided to take a much needed mental health break. I’ve never been the most active user of social media, but even the minor amount I had been engaging during quarantine had become a bit too taxing. Work is slowly beginning to pick back up within a new normal,” Cole wrote on Instagram.

Cole continued his post, “And as someone who has only ever really known work their entire life, I found that I’m best on a schedule. Knowing when to step away like I did in college, and when to re-engage is a fundamental skill for any young performer. Take your breaks. Mental and physical health always come first. In time we’ll all be able to see more clearly what this pandemic actually is- a massive global trauma. The effects of which have, in no small way, been encouraged tremendously by the failings of the US. We’re in the midst of a huge election, and I encourage everyone here in the United States to deeply consider our ‘modern’ medical health care system. I’ll be more active soon my sweet little babies.”

Last month, Cole and his ex-girlfriend Lili Reinhart both spoke out in response to accusations of sexual misconduct that surfaced on Twitter. At the time, several other celebrities were falsely accused as well.

Cole has been spending a lot of time with his Riverdale co-stars while on a break from their show.

Camila Mendes is speaking up.

The 25-year-old Riverdale star spoke out in defense of co-stars, including Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart, amid recent anonymous sexual misconduct allegations against them on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show on Tuesday (June 23).

“It’s so insane to me that somebody would do such a thing, to prove a point, it feels so trivial…to damage not only the integrity of the Me Too movement, but also potentially damage the careers of these people and their lives in order to make a point about how easily people believe things. It’s so backwards to me,” she said.

“I feel for my castmates who had to deal with that.”

Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart are speaking out against the allegations of involvement in sexual abuse and sexual harassment that came to light on Twitter.

Cole, 27, was accused by an anonymous Twitter account that seems to have been created just to send out a few tweets accusing him.

“Earlier today myself and three other cast mates were falsely accused of sexual offense by anonymous accounts on twitter. I take these accusations very seriously, and will be working with the right teams to get to the root of it,” Cole tweeted.

Meanwhile, his ex Lili quote tweeted Cole‘s series of tweets to speak out as well.

“I have always taken sexual assault allegations seriously. But it was proven that this account was created specifically to create false stories about me and my cast. I can’t think of something more twisted than lying about sexual assault,” Lili posted.

Cole Sprouse and KJ Apa join a group of friends for dinner at an outdoor restaurant on Friday night (June 19) in Silver Lake, Calif.

The guys, who both star on the CW’s Riverdale, were joined by their co-star Madelaine Petsch, as well as some other pals.

Last weekend, Cole was spotted at dinner with Madelaine and some other celeb friends as well.

Earlier this week, KJ spoke out after he was criticized for not posting about the Black Lives Matter movement. He expressed that he does support the movement, but doesn’t feel he needs to post about his opinions and beliefs on social media.
