Bill Murray is officially returning for Ghostbusters 2020!

The 69-year-old actor was rumored to be appearing in the sequel but now co-creator Dan Akyroyd has confirmed the news.

During an appearance on The Greg Hill Show, Dan noted that Bill Murray, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts all completed filming on the movie.

“Jason Reitman wrote a beautiful, heartfelt script that takes the real DNA from the first two movies and transfers that directly to the third, the next generation. It hands the legacy off to a new generation of stars, and players, and actors, and characters,” Dan said.

New cast members include Paul Rudd, The Sinner‘s Carrie Coon, Stranger Things‘ Finn Wolfhard, and Gifted‘s Mckenna Grace.

Ghostbusters 2020 is set to hit theaters on July 10, 2020.

The Oscar-winning filmmaker’s movie Us was the inspiration for a maze featured at Horror Nights and he was joined by the film’s young stars Shahadi Wright Joseph and Evan Alex to check it out.

Ghostbusters star Dan Aykroyd and director Ivan Reitman were at the event to check out that film’s new maze as well!

Some more stars in attendance at the opening were Eli Roth, Kelly Osbourne, Pete Wentz, Jaime Camil, and The Originals‘ Joseph Morgan with wife Persia White.

Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights will be open on select nights now through November 3.

Sigourney Weaver just spilled some news about the upcoming Ghostbusters film!

The 69-year-old actress revealed that Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd will be joining the cast of flick, which is set in the same world as the 1984 original.

“It’s going to be crazy working with the guys again!” Sigourney told Parade.

Sigourney didn’t reveal any other details except that she will be reprising her role as Dana Barrett.

The new Ghostbusters is set to be released on July 10, 2020.

Dan Aykroyd is opening up about the upcoming Ghostbusters!

During a recent trip to Toronto, the 66-year-old actor – who starred in the 1980′s films in the franchise – teased about what fans can expect in the upcoming installment directed by Jason Reitman.

“Jason has written a beautiful script, I can’t say too much about it but it’s going to get made and hopefully there’ll be some familiar faces,” Dan told The Canadian Press. “This just takes it to a new generation and a new direction that is so warm, heartfelt, and indeed, quite scary when you confront some of the issues that are being discussed.”

The new Ghostbusters is slated to hit theaters on July 21, 2020.

Dan Aykroyd said some loving words on stage at the public memorial of Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds at Forest Lawn Cemetery on Saturday (March 25) in Los Angeles.

The 64-year-old actor and former fiance of Carrie recalled a time he once saved her life.

She was choking on a brussels sprout and he performed the Heimlich maneuver on her, according to Deadline.

“If I’d been with our beloved showboat,” Dan said, referencing the flight she took in December on which she suffered a heart attack. “I might have been able to save her again.”
