Freddie Highmore Joins His 'Good Doctor' Co-Stars at PaleyFest

Freddie Highmore opened up about his The Good Doctor character, Dr. Shaun Murphy, at 2018 PaleyFest!

The 26-year-old Bates Motel actor stepped out for The Paley Center For Media’s event held at Dolby Theatre on Thursday (March 22) in Hollywood.

He was joined by his co-stars Nicholas Gonzalez, Antonia Thomas, Richard Schiff, Hill Harper, Tamlyn Tomita, and executive producer Daniel Dae Kim.

“Shaun is never going to be able, nor should we try to make him, represent everyone on the spectrum,” Freddie told the crowd about his character, a young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome, who is recruited into the surgical unit of a prestigious hospital.

“In order to make him authentic, it was remaining true to the realities of autism, but at the same time constructing Shaun in his own right,” Freddie added. “It was finding out about his hopes and desires and his sense of humor and the people he connects [with] that may not, necessarily, have anything to do with the fact that he has autism. Yes, of course, we hope the show brings awareness to some extent. But it’s also about following Shaun on his individual journey.”

Earlier this month, it was announced that The Good Doctor has officially been renewed for season two on ABC.

Skrein decided to leave the film after there was an outcry over a white actor playing an Asian-American character.

In the Hellboy comics, the character is Japanese-American and described as a “rugged military member of the bureau for paranormal research and defense who, due to a supernatural encounter, can turn into a jaguar when angered or in pain,” according to THR.

Daniel Dae Kim & Grace Park Were Offered 'Unprecedented Raises,' 'Hawaii Five-0' Boss Claims

Peter M. Lenkov, the showrunner of Hawaii Five-O, is opening up about Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park‘s decision to leave the hit series.

Lenkov says that “CBS was extremely generous and proactive in their renegotiation talks. So much so, the actors were getting unprecedented raises, but in the end they chose to move on.”

Peter continued by defending the diversity of the show, listing many of the actors who represented diverse backgrounds throughout the years.

“After being away from her family for seven years, I understood Grace‘s decision to leave. There was an opportunity for her to return for a handful of episodes, but for several reasons that didn’t work out,” Peter added.

'Hawaii Five-0:' CBS Says It Offered Daniel Dae Kim & Grace Park 'Significant Salary Increases'

CBS is spilling more details after Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park announced they were leaving Hawaii Five-0 ahead of the upcoming eighth season.

Daniel and Grace made the decision when they were reportedly unable to reach salary deals they were satisfied with.

They two were allegedly getting paid 10 to 15 percent less than their co-stars Alex O’Loughlin and Scott Caan.

Daniel and Grace have been important and valued members of Hawaii Five-0 for seven seasons,” CBS said Wednesday (July 5) in a statement. “We did not want to lose them and tried very hard to keep them with offers for large and significant salary increases. While we could not reach an agreement, we part ways with tremendous respect for their talents on screen, as well as their roles as ambassadors for the show off screen, and with hopes to work with them again in the near future.”
