Check out Daniel Day-Lewis in the the newly released trailer of the highly anticipated Steven Spielberg film Lincoln.

The film centers on the “16th President’s tumultuous final months in office. In a nation divided by war and the strong winds of change, Lincoln pursues a course of action designed to end the war, unite the country and abolish slavery. With the moral courage and fierce determination to succeed, his choices during this critical moment will change the fate of generations to come.”

The film also stars Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Mark your calendars, the film opens in theaters on Friday, November 16. Don’t miss it!

Check out this first look at Daniel Day-Lewis as former President Abraham Lincoln in the upcoming Steven Spielberg flick Lincoln!

“Our movie is really about a working leader who must make tough decisions and get things done in the face of overwhelming opposition,” Steven said in a statement.

“Daniel was always conscious of his contemporary surroundings,” he added about his star. “Daniel never went into a fugue state. He did not channel Lincoln. All that stuff is just more about gossip than it is about technique.”

Lincoln is set to hit theaters on November 9!

Daniel Day-Lewis channels Abraham Lincoln as he takes a break from filming and goes out to lunch on Wednesday (November 30) in downtown Richmond, Virginia.

The 54-year-old English actor last starred in Nine and There Will Be Blood.

In Lincoln, a new biopic of the 16th president of the United States, Daniel stars opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones, and Lee Pace.

Steven Spielberg is directing the project, based on the biography of Lincoln written by Doris Kearns Goodwin.

Lincoln is set to be released in December of 2012.

Daniel Day-Lewis will star as the 16th President of the United States in the Steven Spielberg-directed flick Lincoln, according to Variety.

The pic is about the “political collision of Abraham Lincoln and the powerful men of his cabinet on the road to abolition and the end of the Civil War.”

“Daniel Day-Lewis would have always been counted as one of the greatest of actors, were he from the silent era, the golden age of film or even some time in cinema’s distant future,” Spielberg said. “I am grateful and inspired that our paths will finally cross with Lincoln.”

Filming begins on the flick in 2012.

Nine stars Nicole Kidman and Daniel Day-Lewis film a steamy kissing scene on Friday (January 30) on the set of their new movie currently filming in Sutri, Italy.

Nicole Kidman rides shotgun in a light blue Alfa Romeo convertible as she films new scenes for her upcoming movie musical, Nine, in Rome, Italy on Wednesday (January 28).

Her costar Daniel Day-Lewis drove Nicole out of Cinecitta film studios as they filmed a scene involving paparazzi.

Nine is based on the 1982 Tony Award-winning musical of the same name and is being directed by Rob Marshall (Chicago, Memoirs of a Geisha). I have a sinking feeling we’re going to be in for a real treat with this movie!
