Ben Platt is reprising his Tony-winning role of Evan Hansen from the Broadway musical in the film adaptation of the stage show.

'Dear Evan Hansen' Movie Gets Release Date, Will Hit Theaters This Year!

A release date has been announced for the upcoming Dear Evan Hansen movie!

Ben Platt is reprising his Tony-winning role from the Broadway musical in the film adaptation of the stage show.

Also featured in the cast are Kaitlyn Dever as Zoe Murphy, Julianne Moore as Heidi Hansen, Amy Adams as Cynthia Murphy, Danny Pino as Larry Murphy, Colton Ryan as Connor Murphy, Amandla Stenberg as Alana Beck, and Nik Dodani as Jared Kleinman.

Stephen Chbosky, the author of the book “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” and the director of that book’s film adaptation, is directing the movie.

Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who already won a Tony Award for the show’s music, have written a new song with Amandla for her character, who didn’t have a solo in the stage version.

The movie is hitting theaters on September 24, 2021.

Danny Pino Joins 'Dear Evan Hansen' Movie Cast in Role That's Being Reconceived from Broadway Show

Danny Pino has joined the star-studded cast of the upcoming Dear Evan Hansen movie!

The 46-year-old actor, best known for his work on shows like Cold Case and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, will be playing a role that is being reconceived from the Broadway show.

The story revolves around “Evan Hansen, a high schooler with social anxiety. He unintentionally gets caught up in a lie after the family of a classmate who committed suicide mistakes one of Hansen’s letters for their son’s suicide note.”

Danny will be playing the stepfather of the student who commits suicide. Amy Adams will be playing the mother of the student.

In the Broadway musical, Larry Murphy is the father of the student, Connor, but the character will now be a stepfather, according to THR.

Ben Platt, Kaitlyn Dever, Colton Ryan, Amandla Stenberg, and Nik Dodani are also starring in the movie version of the Tony-winning musical.

Rose McIver to Star in New Play 'Key Largo' with Andy Garcia

iZombie and A Christmas Prince actress Rose McIver has joined the cast of the upcoming play Key Largo, which will be making its world premiere with a production at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles.

Oscar nominee Andy Garcia is starring in the play, which is an adaptation of the iconic noir film starring Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall.

Returning from World War II, disillusioned Frank McCloud (Danny Pino) travels to a hotel in Key Largo to pay his respects to the widow of a fallen friend. What McCloud doesn’t count on is an entirely different battle with mobsters who have overtaken the hotel, led by the ruthless Johnny Rocco (Garcia). As a hurricane barrels toward the Keys, McCloud must face his demons in order to take down a monster.

Also starring in the play are Joely Fisher, Stephen Borrello, Louis Mustillo, Tony Plana, Richard Riehle, and Bradley Snedeker.

Original music for the play is being composed by 10-time Grammy winner Arturo Sandoval. Tony Award winner Doug Hughes is directing the production!

The play will run from November 6 through December 10.

'Mayans MC' Cast & Crew Defend Show Violence at Summer TCAs 2019

The stars of Mayans MC hit the stage for their panel discussion at the 2019 Summer TCA Press Tour on Tuesday (August 3) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Show creator Keith Sutter attended the event alongside stars Elgin James, JD Pardo, Clayton Cardenas, Edward James Olmost, Sarah Bolger, Danny Pino, and Emilio Rivera as they promoted the upcoming new season of their FX show.

During the event, Keith defended the show’s violent scenes.

“This is a world that has the language of violence,” Keith said via Deadline. “We’re exploring these damaged characters in this dark world…Creatively it’s our job to tell human truth through fiction. The truth of violence is that it’s never gratuitous. It’s not pretty, not sexy and it always has consequences…Violence shatters humanity and that’s my job – to put it in story.”

The second season of Mayans MC will premiere on Tuesday, September 3 on FX.
