The 55-year-old Joe Dirt actor made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday (April 9), filmed at home amid the ongoing global health crisis.
After dialing in from home, David shared how he’s handling quarantine, and revealed he’s running out of things to do, including alphabetizing his colognes.
They then discussed Tiger King and how the series’ breakout star Joe Exotic suggested David or Brad Pitt play him in a potential movie. And now, David is reacting!
“I thought it’s just a funny idea…it’s more fun to think of who the casting would be,” he said.
“Joe Exotic said me or Brad Pitt, and uh, I think which way it’s gonna head. I see Brad at auditions all the time…you know what Brad does? He brings his Oscar to auditions now,” he joked.
“But I think Joe is a little too squirrely for Brad. That might be wishful thinking, Brad is so studly.”

David Spade‘s show is not returning to Comedy Central.
The 55-year-old comedian’s Lights Out With David Spade, which originally halted production due to the pandemic, will not be returning to the network, Variety reported on Friday (April 3).
Comedy Central will “shop the late-night talker — which it produces through its Comedy Central Productions — to outside networks and platforms. The move comes as Comedy Central has experienced both a massive influx in viewers and disruption to its programming pipeline amid the pandemic,” Variety reports.
Lights Out first premiered in 2019 following The Daily Show With Trevor Noah. The show’s first season was originally expected to run through June, but “ultimately didn’t deliver audiences that lived up to network hopes.”
Joseph Maldonado-Passage, the 57-year-old incarcerated zookeeper of the hit NetflixTiger King series, has some talent in mind to portray him in a potential big screen adaptation of his life story, filmmakers Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin confirmed in an interview with THR on Wednesday (April 1).
“He would like Brad Pitt or David Spade to play him,” Rebecca said, adding: “He doesn’t refer to David Spade as David Spade — he refers to him as ‘Joe Dirt.’”
He has not yet seen the series, but he is aware of the acclaim.
“He’s in jail, so he can’t necessarily watch it, but once the show dropped he was getting hundreds and hundreds of emails to his jail mail, and he was ecstatic,” his husband Dillon Passage revealed to Andy Cohen.
The 58-year-old Liar Liar actor stopped by Lights Out with David Spade for the episode that aired on Thursday (February 13).
“I did audition for SNL,” Jim told host David Spade. “I got out at NBC in the Valley and I was like, ‘Gosh, I hope this is a lucky day for me.’ I walked out of my car, closed the door, and I heard, ‘DON’T DO IT! DON’T JUMP!’”
“I looked up at the top of NBC building and there was a page in a blue coat trying to get his nerve up, standing on the NBC logo trying to get his nerve up to jump off,” Jim continued. “I went, ‘Not a good sign. Not a good sign.’”
Listen to Jim tell the story below. He also talks about whether or not he’d ever do an hour-long stand-up special, his memoir, his art, and more.
The 23-year-old actor won the award for The Comedy Movie Star of 2019 for his Netflix movie The Perfect Date.
Noah got sentimental during his speech and told his fans, “Before I go, I just want to say it matters not what you’ve done, but what you do with what you’ve done for others.”
During the show, Noah met up with Jimmy Fallon for a fun photo.
Jimmy won the award for The Nighttime Talk Show of 2019 and his award was presented by his pal David Spade.
