Journal For Jordan was announced almost two years ago and filming is finally taking place after having been postponed due to the pandemic.

The movie is “based on the true story of Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Dana Canedy’s love affair with First Sergeant Charles Monroe King. King kept a journal full of poignant life lessons for their newborn son, Jordan, while deployed overseas. He was killed in Iraq in 2006 when Jordan was just seven months old, but his spirit lives on in his messages of love to Dana and Jordan."

Denzel Washington, who was also seen on set, will direct the pic.

Here's a plot summary: "Kern County Deputy Sheriff Joe “Deke” Deacon (Washington) is sent to Los Angeles for what should have been a quick evidence-gathering assignment. Instead, he becomes embroiled in the search for a killer who is terrorizing the city. Leading the hunt, L.A. Sheriff Department Sergeant Jim Baxter (Malek), impressed with Deke’s cop instincts, unofficially engages his help. But as they track the killer, Baxter is unaware that the investigation is dredging up echoes of Deke’s past, uncovering disturbing secrets that could threaten more than his case."

The movie opened to $4.8M at 2,171 theaters, and made $7.6M worldwide with money from 20 markets including Russia, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, and United Artists Emirates, via the outlet.

This is also not a surprise, as there is an ongoing trend among moviegoers amid the pandemic: "Older male action fare has been a staple during the pandemic since late August with movies like Solstice Studios’ Unhinged ($4M opening), Focus Features’ Let Him Go ($4M), Open Road’s Liam Neeson movies Honest Thief and The Marksman (respectively $4.1M and $3.1M), and Universal’s News of the World ($2.25M); and Warners can boast the low-ceiling credit of having Little Things rep the best wide release opening out of that pack, and also for R-rated fare — and that’s with a simultaneous release this past weekend on HBO Max. We’ll assess that whole experiment again in a bit as new intelligence was released this past week."

As far as theater reopenings amid the virus, Illinois and Chicago re-opened theaters this past weekend, and Boston is reopening with 25% capacity limits starting this week.

Rami Malek also just boarded an exciting new project. Find out what it is!

Denzel Washington Told Chadwick Boseman To ‘Put a Ring On’ Taylor Simone Ledward’s Finger

Denzel Washington is opening up about one of the more important lessons he passed on to the late Chadwick Boseman before his passing this year.

In a new interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Denzel, 65, opened up about working with Chadwick on his final film, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, and recalled telling Chadwick to marry Taylor Simone Ledward before someone else did.

While filming the movie, Chadwick and Taylor were only dating, but Denzel noted how well she was caring for Chadwick on the set.

"It's fascinating that nobody knew," Denzel shared about Chadwick's private battle with colon cancer. "Well, credit to him; he kept it to himself. It was nobody's business. He was there to deliver and he delivered."

He went on, saying that "Certain members of his team knew. His wife was there. They weren't even married yet, and I used to watch how she took care of him, and I actually said to him, I said, 'Man, you know, you need to put a ring on that finger,' cause she kept her eye on him and she watched him."

Denzel adds, "And I'm like, 'Man, she loves that guy.' You know, but I didn't know what we know now."

Chadwick and Taylor were married in a private ceremony earlier in the year and not a lot of people knew he was married until news of his passing shocked fans.

If you didn't know, Denzel actually paid for Chadwick to attend acting school.

It was just recently reported that Taylor is still entitled to Chadwick's estate, despite not being in his will at the time of his death. Get the details here...

Fire Crews Respond to Denzel Washington’s Home in Los Angeles

A scary situation happened at Denzel Washington's house tonight.

Reports claim that the Los Angeles fire department responded to reports of smoke at Denzel's home in Los Angeles on Wednesday night (November 11).

CBS Los Angeles says that everyone safely got out of the home, which is located in the Beverly Crest neighborhood. It wasn't clear if Denzel was home at the time.

While there were no flames visible, smoke was seen coming out of the second floor of the home. The fire crews are trying to figure out if there was a fire inside the walls.

“The investigation is largely focused on one of several furnaces in the home that may have been recently serviced,” the LAFD said.

Denzel's famous son recently revealed what the Oscar winner made him do during the pandemic.

John David Washington Says He Had to Do Chores Again After Moving Back in With Dad Denzel!

John David Washington is opening up about moving back home during the quarantine!

The 36-year-old Tenet star appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! with guest host Samuel L. Jackson where he talked about living with his dad Denzel Washington once again.

"You really live in Brooklyn, but since the pandemic has happened you had to come back home. So you’re living in the house again, right?" Samuel started.

"Technically not anymore, but I was," John responded. "I was in my old room."

Samuel, who has been close friends with the Washington family for years, then asked John if Denzel made him do chores again, as Denzel likes "some order in the house."

"I can't believe we're doing this right now," John laughed. "There was a chore or two. My chore was to make sure I'm down for dinner in time."

"That’s not a chore," Samuel responded. "A chore is like sweeping the driveway, taking the garbage out, something to earn your keep."

"How about cooking?" John added. "There you go, I earned my keep that way."

If you missed it, John and this Emmy-nominated actress filmed a movie in secret during the pandemic!
