Jill Duggar Got An Attorney Involved After Claiming She Didn't Get Paid For 'Counting On'

Jill Duggar has announced that she has left her family’s reality television empire of Counting On.

The 29-year-old mom, and the second born daughter of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, revealed in an interview that she had begun to distance herself from her family.

“I never expected this to happen or for it to get to this point,” she shared with People this week. “But I’m realizing I can’t put a timeline on healing. I love my family and they love me. I really just have to follow God’s lead and take it one day at a time.”

Jill added that her and husband Derick Dillard‘s “control to choose what jobs we were allowed to accept and even where we were allowed to live was taken away from us.”

He continued, “The first few years of our marriage, we spent time and money working towards opportunities only to hit a dead end when we’d be told, ‘Well, you’re not allowed to do that.’”

Since leaving, Jill has pulled away even more as she tasted her first drink of alcohol and also began to wear jeans, which her other sisters are not doing.

Now though, Jill and Derick have sought out legal advice in order to obtain the finances they say that they were not paid for Counting On.

According to Jill, her dad is the primary payee for the flagship show, 19 Kids & Counting, and then again for Counting On. The payout for him was around $25,000 to $45,000 per episode paycheck.

She says that she didn’t receive any compensation until she quit the show in 2017.

“That’s when we got an attorney involved and finally recovered some of the money,” Jill shared. “It was a process.”

Derick adds that the money they did receive was only a “little more than minimum wage” in a recent video.

Jill Duggar Confirms She's 'Not on the Best Terms' With Famous Family

Jill Duggar, one of the daughters from the formerly popular TLC show 19 Kids and Counting, has confirmed a long rumored fan theory – that she doesn’t get along with her family and the situation seemingly caused her to leave the TLC show.

In a new video, she spoke about her relationship with her parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, and her 18 siblings, and admitted there is some strain. Jill and her husband Derick Dillard chose to no longer participate in the Duggar show Counting On, which sparked theories that there may be some bad blood in the family.

“Yes, there’s been some distancing there,” the 29-year-old former reality star confessed. “We’re not on the best terms with some of my family. We’ve had some disagreements and stuff, but we’re working toward healing, definitely, and restoration. We’re having to kind of just take some time and heal and just doing what’s best for our family right now and just working through it, I guess.”

“So it’s difficult, but like we’re praying and trusting God that the timeline is his and what that looks like and everything,” she added. “Definitely appreciate your prayers, but, don’t want to go into detail too much.”

She then explained why they left Counting On, saying, “We left the show three years ago because basically our family goals that we had for ourselves didn’t align with what we found out. We ended up finding out that we didn’t have as much control over our lives as it related to the show and stuff as we felt like we needed. We had to make a decision at that time to kind of put the show aside just to pursue our own goals.”

“We will not go back on the show under the circumstances that we were under at the time that we left,” Derick said. “Meaning, just as a family, we have to be able to make decisions that allow us to navigate our lives and have the information and control so that we know whether or not we can even plan anything for our lives or not.”

“We don’t regret leaving the show. We feel like it was the best thing for our family, especially at that time. And even now, there’s been other things that we’ve been grateful for — like more family time,” she added.

Jill and Derick are parents to Samuel Scott, 3, and Israel David, 5.

Derick has been the subject of a ton of controversy after making transphobic comments.

Jill Duggar's Husband Derick Dillard Slammed for Transphobic Comment, TLC Responds

Derick Dillard, the star of TLC’s Counting On and the husband of Jill Duggar, is under fire for a transphobic tweet he wrote about fellow TLC star Jazz Jennings.

The 28-year-old reality star wrote the tweet in response to a promo posted on the TLC Twitter account.

“What an oxymoron… a ‘reality’ show which follows a non-reality. ‘Transgender’ is a myth. Gender is not fluid; it’s ordained by God,” Derick wrote.

Someone replied saying, “Is it necessary for a grown man to throw shade at a teenage girl?” and Derick responded by saying, “I want to be clear. I have nothing against him. I only have issue with the words and definitions being propagated here.”

Derick was once again slammed for yet another transphobic comment. “You mean her. Use the right pronoun if you have no issue,” one Twitter user responded.

TLC released a simple statement: “Derick Dillard‘s personal statement does not represent the views of TLC.”

Jazz took the high road with her response to the awful tweet.
