Disney is turning one of Broadway’s biggest musicals into a movie!

It has been announced that Disney has closed a deal to turn The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee into a live-action movie musical, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.

Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, who produced Disney’s live-action Aladdin, remake will be producing the upcoming film adaption.

If you don’t know, Spelling Bee is a musical comedy that follows several quirky students – Olive Ostrovsky, William Barfée, Logainne “Schwarzy” SchwartzandGrubenierre, Marcy Park, Leaf Coneybear, and Charlito “Chip” Tolentino – who are competing to win their county’s spelling bee.

The show first hit Broadway in 2005 and earned six Tony Awards nominations, winning Best Book of a Musical and Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical for Dan Fogler, who played William Barfée.

As of right now, the The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee movie adaption doesn’t have a director or any cast members attached.

The 33-year-old PEN15 actress is set to star in Disney+‘s forthcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series, Deadline reported Thursday (April 22).

The Emmy nominated-star will reportedly appear in at least three episodes in the series in a supporting role, although specific details regarding her character have not yet been unveiled.

Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo are teaming up for another movie and this one will be made with Disney!

The Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar co-stars will be writing an untitled live-action movie about Cinderella’s evil step-sisters, though they will not be playing the iconic characters.

Deadline reports that it’s still unknown if Kristen and Annie will appear in the movie, but if they do, they won’t play the step-sisters. The lead roles will go to younger actresses.

The movie will be “a fairy tale musical comedy that re-imagines the Cinderella classic from the point of view of her infamous evil stepsisters. Spanning their early childhood through the marriage of their universally beloved stepsister and beyond, we follow Anastasia and Drizella Tremaine as they struggle to uphold their family’s legacy.”

In addition to writing and starring in Barb and Star, Kristen and Annie were nominated for an Oscar for co-writing the Bridesmaids screenplay.

Kristen recently revealed the names of her twins, who were born last year.

Gabrielle Union laughs at something Zach Braff said as they start to film on their upcoming Disney+ film, Cheaper By The Dozen, in Los Angeles on Tuesday (April 13).

The two actors will star in the upcoming remake of the popular movie, that was first made in 1950, and then in 2003, with a sequel coming in 2005.

The story “centers on a multiracial, blended family of 12, navigating a hectic home life while managing their family business. Braff will play the father opposite Union as the mother.”

Brittany Daniel and twin sister Cynthia Daniel will also be part of the show, and were spotted on the set with Gabrielle and Zach during the day.

Erika Christensen, Kylie Rogers, Mykal-Michelle Harris, Luke Prael, Caylee Blosenski John O’Brien, Andre Robinson, Journee Brown, Aryan Simhadri, Christian Cote and Sebastian Cote will also star in the film.

The film is expected to debut in 2022.

Shailene Woodley and Aaron Rodgers went to Disney World earlier this month and now official photos from their vacation have been released!

The engaged couple even participated in a Walt Disney World Minute interview during their vacation, in which they shared their favorite things about the theme park.

Shailene was asked to name one thing that always makes her smile and she said, “This guy. You’re so cute.” When asked how she unwinds after a long day, she said, “Personally, I like a bath, maybe a good glass of wine.”

Aaron responded to that question and said, “I was gonna say cuddle time. But since she went with her own thing, I’m gonna say Jeopardy! and a glass of scotch.”

The couple was asked about the Disney songs they sing on repeat and they revealed they listen to The Lion King and Aladdin a lot. Watch the full video below!

Disney fans might know this already, but did you realize that Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, inspired the name of Sleeping Beauty‘s prince?

The prince in the 1959 animated classic movie was the first ever Prince to get a name and Disney turned to British royalty for inspiration.

The first two Princes that appeared in princess movies were Snow White and Cinderella. However, they weren’t actually given names.

Although, Snow White’s prince is referred to as Florian by some fans, and Cinderella’s is simply, Prince Charming.

The Prince in Sleeping Beauty was given the Duke of Edinburgh’s name because it was a familiar name to many Americans. The animated Prince was also the first “active” prince as well, and given many speaking lines.

When Sleeping Beauty hit theaters, Philip and his wife, Queen Elizabeth II, had only been married for 12 years, and she had been Queen for just seven.

Prince Philip passed away at the age of 99 today, and many including his children and grandchildren, paid tribute to the royal.

Tom Brady finally got to celebrate his Super Bowl win at Disney World!

The 43-year-old NFL player took a trip to the theme park with his family on Monday (April 5) in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

The Tampba Bay Buccaneers quarterback was spotted with his wife Gisele Bundchen and their kids while spending time in the Star Wars area of the park.

“Thank you @waltdisneyworld for showing me and my family an incredible time. Darth Vader told my son Benny “the force is strong with this one” and now I will be spending the rest of the week convincing him that a) Jedi isn’t a real profession and b) he is not allowed on the ‘dark side,’” Tom wrote on Instagram with the below video.

Page Six reports that the family went mostly unnoticed since everyone was wearing masks.

“People didn’t seem to know it was them. There were a few who recognized them, and [Tom] took a photo with one family. They were helping their kids create a lightsaber,” the spy said.
