In the Heights creator Lin-Manuel Miranda has shared a video of the touching moment when late actress Doreen Montalvo got to watch her cameo in the new movie.
The movie was supposed to be released in theaters last year and before the pandemic started, a bunch of original Broadway cast members got to watch some of the film during a vocal session.

The new movie musical In the Heights is out now and there are two moments that you should make sure to catch in the end credits.
The first one is a touching tribute to an actress in the film who sadly passed away last year. The second one happens all the way at the end of the credits and features an additional scene for Lin-Manuel Miranda's character.
Here a synopsis of the movie: “Lights up on Washington Heights…The scent of a cafecito caliente hangs in the air just outside of the 181st Street subway stop, where a kaleidoscope of dreams rallies this vibrant and tight-knit community. At the intersection of it all is the likable, magnetic bodega owner Usnavi (Anthony Ramos), who saves every penny from his daily grind as he hopes, imagines and sings about a better life.”

Doreen Montalvo, a talented actress known for her work on Broadway, has died at the age of 56.
BroadwayWorld is reporting that Doreen suffered a stroke earlier this month and her friends sadly confirmed that she has now passed away.
Doreen was starring in the new Broadway musical Mrs. Doubtfire when the pandemic started and caused the shutdown of all live theater performances. The musical only performed three previews before they had to close. She originated the role of Janet Lundy, which she also played in the pre-Broadway run in Seattle.
Doreen's other Broadway credits include In the Heights and On Your Feet. She also appeared on TV shows like Smash, The Good Wife, Elementary, and Law & Order.
