Dustin Hoffman to Star in Broadway Revival of 'Our Town' in 2021

Dustin Hoffman is returning to Broadway!

The 82-year-old actor will be starring in the upcoming 2021 Broadway revival of Our Town, Deadline reports.

Dustin will be playing The Stage Manager in the classic Thornton Wilder play directed by Bartlett Sher, who also directed the Broadway play To Kill a Mockingbird.

Our Town marks Dustin‘s first Broadway role since starring as Shylock in 1989′s The Merchant of Venice, which earned him a Tony nomination.

The play follows the lives, loves and losses contained within the small town of Grover’s Corners between 1901 and 1913. The Stage Manager serves as the narrator and guide through the stories of the fictional town.

Our Town was last produced on Broadway at the Booth theater back in 2002, with Paul Newman as The Stage Manager.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Broadway will be staying closed until at least January 3, 2021 because of the pandemic.

Dustin Hoffman Accusers Thank John Oliver for Confronting Him

Seven of Dustin Hoffman‘s accusers have come forward with a statement thanking John Oliver for confronting Dustin in a public forum for allegations of sexual harassment.

“We want to thank you for confronting Dustin Hoffman,” the women wrote in a statement, then posted on Twitter by Anna Graham Hunter. “While the questions you asked may not have led to the constructive conversation you hoped for, the fact that you asked them all is what matters most. Many men listen to and believe women when we recount our experiences of sexual harassment and assault. But few men put themselves at risk – socially or professionally – to have uncomfortable conversations with other men. Women can continue to tell our stories, but ultimately, change will depend on men reflecting on their own behavior and challenging other men to do the same.”

The statement was signed by his accusers, Anna, Wendy Riss Gatsiounis, Kathryn Rossetter, Melissa Kester, Cori Thomas, and two women who wish to remain anonymous.

John Oliver Speaks Out About Confronting Dustin Hoffman Over Sexual Harassment

Earlier in the month, John Oliver questioned Dustin Hoffman extensively over his sexual harassment claims, and now John is speaking out about the encounter that went viral.

“I knew the stories were out there, and I heard there were a few more coming, so [bringing them up] felt unavoidable. We had to have a discussion about it,” John said while making a recent appearance on Sky One’s The Russell Howard Hour. “It became such a big story, but it became about my questions rather than [Hoffman's] answers…The questions weren’t particularly remarkable, but his answers were …not great…it didn’t really go anywhere constructive, so the whole thing just made me feel sad.”

“I wanted it to become something more constructive,” John added. “I tried and failed.”

Dustin Hoffman Faces More Sexual Misconduct Allegations, Including Exposing Himself to a Teen

Three more women are speaking out to accuse Oscar-winning actor Dustin Hoffman of sexual misconduct, including one who was just a teen at the time of the incident.

Cori Thomas says she was just 16-years-old when she spent a day with Hoffman and his daughter Karina, one of her high-school classmates, in New York City. Her parents were set to pick her up at a restaurant after dinner, but he allegedly suggested that Cori join them at his hotel room following the meal.

Cori told Variety that after the three of them arrived in the hotel room, Karina left to go home as it was a school night and she had homework. Hoffman then went into the restroom and came out several minutes later and exposed himself to her.

“He came out of the bathroom with a towel at first wrapped around him, which he dropped,” Cori said. “He was standing there naked. I think I almost collapsed, actually. It was the first time I had ever seen a naked man. I was mortified. I didn’t know what to do. And he milked it. He milked the fact that he was naked. He stood there. He took his time.”

Cori says he requested that she massage his feet and she did. A few minutes later, her mom arrived at the hotel and she left.

You can read about the other allegations at Variety.com.

Hoffman has publicly faced accusations from three other women as well over the past two months.

Dustin Hoffman & John Oliver Get Heated Over Harassment Claims

Dustin Hoffman and John Oliver found themselves in a heated argument about harassment claims against Dustin during a recent Q&A.

While John was moderating a panel about Dustin‘s movie Wag the Dog on Monday night (December 4), he brought up the current climate around sexual harassment.

When John said he had to bring up the allegations because it was “hanging in the air,” Dustin replied, “From a few things you’ve read you’ve made an incredible assumption about me. You’ve made the case better than anyone else can. I’m guilty.”

John went on to express that he wasn’t happy with the response Dustin gave to the allegations.

“It’s ‘not reflective of who I am.’ It’s that kind of response to this stuff that pisses me off. It is reflective of who you were. If you’ve given no evidence to show it didn’t [happen], there was a period of time for a while when you were a creeper around women. It feels like a cop-out to say ‘it wasn’t me.’ Do you understand how that feels like a dismissal?” John said to Dustin.

John also added that he believed everything the accuser said because “there’s no point in [an accuser] lying” to which Dustin retorted, “Well, there’s a point in her not bringing it up for 40 years.”

At several points, Dustin and the cast tried to move on from the topic but John reportedly continued to push the issue.

At one point Dustin even said “You weren’t there” to which John replied, “I’m glad.”
