Surprise: Emmy Rossum and Sam Esmail are parents!

The 34-year-old Shameless star and the 43-year-old Mr. Robot creator revealed the exciting news on her Instagram on Tuesday (May 25).

“Monday morning, at 8:13 AM, we welcomed our daughter into the world,” Emmy revealed, along with a series of shots revealing her baby bump, posing alongside her husband, and a footprint from her new baby girl.

“Two weeks before our daughter was born,” she captioned another glam shot showing off her pregnant belly.

Emmy and Sam kept the pregnancy news private, and there were only ever unconfirmed rumblings of a rumored pregnancy in recent weeks. The last time we saw the couple out and about was last year amid the pandemic in face masks and face shields.

The two got married in May of 2017, and first began dating back in 2013 after she was cast in his film, Comet. Congratulations to the happy couple!

Emmy Rossum‘s return to Shameless was unfortunately nixed by the pandemic.

The Showtime series’ showrunner, John Wells, spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about what they had planned and how the pandemic ruined it all.

“We were trying to get Emmy — and Emmy wanted to come back… We wanted her to return and had some storylines about her coming back and she wanted to do it,” he shared, however, “based on what was going on with the pandemic, when we were planning it… the quarantines went back into effect between New York [where Rossum resides] and Los Angeles [where Shameless films] and it was impossible to figure out how to get her back.”

John said that not having her back was a big disappointment, calling it “a very minor but sad result of everything that’s happened in the pandemic.”

Emmy Rossum had to part ways with one of her dogs today.

The 34-year-old Shameless actress paid tribute to Cinnamon, who was her companion for many years. She shared a slideshow of images with the Yorkshire Terrier throughout the years with her fans to pay tribute.

“We lost our best friend of nearly 14 years today,” Emmy started off, adding that Cinnamon “loved eating, sleeping, and traveling. He loved barking at children and eating discarded pizza crusts off the street. He loved being carried and he loved being loved.”

She added, “I will always be his mother. He was my best boy.”

Cinnamon was one of Emmy and husband, Sam Esmail‘s four fur children, including Sugar, Pepper and Fiona.

Recently, Emmy clapped back at a social media user for this rude comment.

Emmy Rossum thinks she recognizes the voice of the director who is speaking to Lukas Gage in that audition video that is going viral.

In case you missed it, the young Euphoria actor shared a video of a director insulting his apartment during a virtual audition. The director clearly thought his microphone was muted, but it wasn’t, and Lukas handled the situation perfectly. Watch the clip now!

Emmy commented on the video to tell a story about the director.

“I think I know that voice. If it’s who I’m thinking, he asked me to ‘audition’ for him once. But not to read a scene. He said he knew I could act. Just to come into his office in a bikini and do a twirl. No joke. THAT was the ask. My reps said he wanted to know if I was ‘fat right now.’ I believe I told my agent, ‘Tell him no thank you and to go f–k himself,’” Emmy said.

Last month, Emmy had the perfect response to a troll claiming she gets “paid to get naked on TV.”

Later in the day, Emmy did some phone banking for Biden-Harris while at home.

“I just phone banked for an hour and it felt good. Sign up and learn how. It’s super easy. It’s not too late, you can phone bank all day tomorrow too!” she tweeted. “The highlight of this day was dancing to Robyn’s ‘dancing on my own’ in a virtual room with 132 other phone bankers.”

Emmy Rossum expertly shut down a troll on Twitter while watching the Vice Presidential debate.

During the live televised event, Emmy tweeted, “Can’t wait to get my I’M SPEAKING t-shirt,” in reference to Senator Kamala Harris‘ line to Vice President Mike Pence as he interrupted her.

Well, a troll named Carl decided to tweet back, “Yeah your shirts that say I GET PAID TO GET NAKED ON TV are sold out.”

Well…Emmy had the perfect clap back and fans are absolutely loving it.

“I get paid to tell stories and life sometimes involves this awesome thing called sex. Maybe you’ve just never had any so you don’t know,” Emmy responded.

Emmy Rossum shows just how serious she is about the pandemic while heading to a doctor’s appointment in Beverly Hills, Calif., on Friday (October 2).

The 34-year-old actress and filmmaker wore a face mask underneath a face shield to protect herself from the coronavirus pandemic, and carried a cute purse while on her walk, and flashed a peace sign at the cameras when she reached her destination.

“Please just wear a mask,” she had tweeted earlier in the day, just after following the news that the President and First Lady of the United States had tested positive for the virus.

This isn’t the first time Emmy was spotted out with the double protection.

Earlier this summer, she wore a blue and white floral mask while out to lunch with a friend with the shield as well.
