ABC Announces 4 Exciting New Series Picked Up for 2021-22 Season!

ABC has announced four new shows that will be coming to the network in the upcoming 2021-22 television season!

It’s currently upfronts week, which is when all of the networks finalize their renewals and cancellations, decide which new shows they’ll pick up, create their schedules for the upcoming season, and then present everything to advertisers.

Usually, upfronts week happens in New York City with all the network’s talent appearing on stage for the advertisers, but that didn’t happen this year or last year because of the pandemic.

ABC has announced so many renewals and cancellations in the last couple days that we can barely keep track. We have a full recap for you though!

Eve Will Lead & Write Original Music in ABC's 'Queens' Pilot

ABC has recruited Eve to lead their upcoming musical pilot, Queens.

The series will center on four estranged and out-of-touch women in their 40s who reunite for a chance to recapture their fame and regain the swagger they had as the Nasty Bitches – their ’90s group that made them legends in the hip-hop world.

Variety says that Eve will play a character named Brianna.

Twenty years ago, Brianna was Professor Sex — one fourth of the Nasty Bitches — rapping about money, sex and her all-around glamorous lifestyle. Today, Brianna is a proud wife and mother of five in a stained sweatsuit who barely has a second to breathe. Not glamorous, but Brianna loves her life.

The Nasty Bitches are a distant, distant memory. But when an opportunity arises for the group to reunite, Brianna will grapple with whether or not she still has the swagger and confidence that made her an icon decades ago.

Eve will also take on another role in the series, as she’ll render original music for it as her character.

Last year, Eve announced that she would be leaving her role as co-host on The Talk.

Eve Is Leaving 'The Talk' After Four Seasons As England Enters Another Lockdown

Eve is saying goodbye to The Talk.

The 41-year-old rapper revealed her intentions to leave the show after being part of it for four seasons.

Eve has been co-hosting the show from her home in London and since the country is going into another lockdown, she is unable to travel and be with her co-hosts in person for the show.

“It’s been a crazy year, obviously for all of us,” she shared on the program today (November 2). “And I’m so grateful that I’m able to stay here in London and do the show, but I can’t see for me, the foreseeable future of traveling back at the moment, and have decided that at the end of December, this will probably be my last time on the show, in this capacity as a host.”

Eve continued, “We’re on another lockdown from Thursday, and that’s another reason, obviously staying home has been such a blessing because my husband [Maximillion Cooper] and I got to know each other in a different way, a beautiful way. So I want to be closer to him. I want to concentrate on expanding our family, being with my family.”

“I have had the most beautiful experience. I’ve grown as a woman, as a person. I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again, I never thought that being on a talk show would be this much of an opening of my spirit, soul, personality, everything. Sitting on stage with all you women has been the best thing ever. I truly love you,” she concluded.

There’s no word on a replacement for her seat at the table as of right now.

Just two months ago, Marie Osmond also left the show after only one season.

Carrie Ann Inaba suited up as the title character Willy Wonka while her co-hosts were all golden ticket winners – Sharon Osbourne as Veruca Salt, Sheryl Underwood as Violet Beauregarde, and Eve as Mike Teavee, appropriately on a TV screen.

Jason Ritter played Charlie Bucket while appearing as a guest. Dr. Phil McGraw and his wife Robin McGraw sat in bed for their interview while dressed as Grandpa Joe and Grandma Josephine. Criminal Minds actor Matthew Gray Gubler was in an Augustus Gloop outfit and chef Antonia Lofaso was in costume as Slugworth.
