The upcoming TV series based around Star Wars‘ Obi-Wan Kenobi is back on track.

The upcoming Disney+ series, set to star Ewan McGregor, was briefly put on hold as the company looked for new scripts.

The show has enlisted John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum executive producer Joby Harold to write, THR confirmed on Thursday (April 2).

The show was put on hold in January to “rethink its story. Hossein Amini had been working on the project, which a source said was potentially trodding on ground to similar to The Mandalorian, with the Jedi master Obi-Wan looking over Luke Skywalker –– perhaps mirroring how the Mandalorian watches over Baby Yoda in the popular Disney+ series that launched Lucasfilm into a new era of live action Star Wars TV shows,” according to the report.

Mandalorian director Deborah Chow will direct the Obi-Warn series, which does not yet have a release date.

This big star is possibly joining the cast of The Mandalorian.

Their relationship has not been without controversy: if you don’t know, fans found out about Ewan‘s relationship with Mary Elizabeth at the same time as they found out that he was divorcing his wife of 27 years, Eve Mavrakis back in 2017.

Ewan‘s daughter also made it clear she did not care for her dad’s new girlfriend.

The 48-year-old actor got into character as fashion designer Roy Halston Frowick while filming the upcoming Netflix series Simply Halston on Thursday (February 20) in New York City.

Ewan sported a black, leather coat with a big, silver belt buckle as he filmed a scene while walking through a protest.

Simply Halston – created by Ryan Murphy – follows the life of the celebrated fashion designer, who rose to prominence in the 1960s.

Ryan shared a couple teasers for the series earlier this week.

“After a long 20 years of twists and turns, the limited series HALSTON starring the fantastic Ewan McGregor began production today,” Ryan wrote. “I am so proud of our director and leader Dan Minahan, and Christine Vachon of Killer Films. I am thrilled to be producing this great and meaningful show with them and Alexis Martin Woodall and Pamela Koffler.”

Other stars in the show include Rory Culkin as Joel Scumacher, Rebecca Dayan as Elsa Peretti, David Pittu as Joe Eula, and Krysta Rodriguez as Liza Minnelli.

Ewan McGregor was discouraged by his own uncle to star in a Star Wars movie – which his uncle originally starred in!

The 48-year-old The Phantom Menace actor revealed that his uncle Denis Lawson, who played Wedge Antilles in Star Wars, tried to discourage him from joining the cast.

“When my parents took me to…see Star Wars for the first time in the cinema, to see my uncle on the screen but also it was Star Wars, it blew my mind. And my uncle is in all three of those original films…He’d always been really dismissive of it because he did a couple of weeks work, sitting in a cardboard spaceship…and yet he had this massive following. It sort of annoyed him,” Ewan revealed on Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist, which airs on Sunday (February 9).

“He was one of the people who said, ‘Don’t do it, don’t do it, don’t do it…and then the nearer I got to it, the more I wanted to do it.”
